Hi all

I'm having an issue with an iPod 20Gb without Clickwheel (2002 model). It is connected via a Firewire card to my Acer laptop.

This iPod used to be detected by Winamp, but the other night I unplugged it from the laptop without ejecting it first. Since then all the music on the iPod disappeared from the Playlist, although the:confused: files were still on the device.

So now Windows XP detects it as a hard drive, but iTunes does not detect it as an iPod. I installed the original iPod software and did a restore, but still iTunes nor MusicMatch nor Winamp recognise it as an iPod.

The only time it is detected is when I change the drive letter, and then MusicMatch recognises it. I can transfer music over, but when I unplug it, the iPod itself does not see any music at all, and the next time I plug it in it is again not detected/recognised by anything other than Windows XP.

This morning I connected it to a Mac and iTunes starts up but does not detect it as an iPod either. Formatted it again on the Mac, still no detection.

Please help me out here, I have no idea what to try next!?

Dude that's wierd. All I can suggest, if you're looking around on the internet is check out the ilounge forums and the Apple support forums.

Must be some sort of firmware issue.

Nope, restored that using the original (not iTunes) software. It restores fine, but iTunes still does not pick it up.

So now I have this funky 20Gb portable HDD. :whistling:
