Hi guys need a bit of advice. I want to buy a portable mp3 player but I am unsure which one to get. I know about the ipods but I would also like to know what other players to look at.

One important thing is the players software must be vista x64 compatible.

I am planning to buy one when I go to to Dubai for the xmas holiday.

Any advice will be appreciated.

I would have to say the ipod nano , the new 3rd generation, awesome little mp3 player. And yes the software is vista compatible.

And if you dont want to use itunes, you can always get mediamonkey (which in my opinion is a lot better)

what makes the ipod great, is all the attachment and other goodies available out there for it

The screen on the nano is amazing and as you said the number of peripherals/accessories is probably unrivaled.

Does the new nano have the touch screen?? Heard the ipods with the touch screen and the iphone are incompatible with vista x64 but compatible with vista 32 bit.

No - only the iPod Touch has a touch screen.

Like bwana said, no touchscreen.

But like I said, although Itunes is cool and free, mediamonkey is better, and completely compatible. Dont need anything else (except all the cool peripherals out there)
