Baghdad - Iraq is on the brink of total disintegration and could drag its neighbours into a regional war, a leading think-tank said on Tuesday, after the Pentagon confirmed violence was at an all-time high.

This is sad. It seems like the only way mankind can be controlled is by dictatorship. Democracy is becoming the breeding ground of lawless crime all over the world.
Then again, dictators make war on each other, because of peer to peer conflicts.
Mankind is for sure a cancerous blotch in creation.

Well it was expected however in a sense this justifies, and i hate saying it but, SA's quietness wrt zim. Tho granted zim does currently does not look much like iraq with alot of waring factions blowing up things, well from what we see, but if mugabe is suddenly replaced by external forces, the national army disected and the people don't force it by unifying then more chaos will loom ?

It just never stops does it? Always someone somewhere doing things to anger others and then the whole shebang starts all over. Just looking at the speeches on 16 December already shows that there is no intention for peace even here.

Actually, in all honesty, while Saddam was a bad leader, he is nowhere near as bad as George W Bush, that man is the personification of stupidity and uselessness. The whole war in Iraq was a pretext to get at the oil.....

Bunny,

I think the Yanks get it, it just conviences them to do things the silly way in the short term. Stupidity is not seeing the long term outcomes of your decisions.

Nonsense about communism taking over the region. Then when their plans went horribly wrong the government couldn't admit they made a huge mistake.

It is fundamentally difficult to impose democracy on a people. Especially in any country where two or more disparate groups who dislike each other reside. First these groups have to get over their fear of each other so that they can actually co-operate.

Bush thought he was going get his name in the history books as the leader that brought democracy to Iraq and saved the world from the forces of evil. He should be saving the world from himself.
