Is an alarm connected to the hooter?

My 2001 Corolla's hooter just died on me over the weekend. Will the car's factory fitted alarm's siren still be activated? Does the alarm has it's own siren or is it connected to the hooter?

I think it is the same hooter..easiest way to check is to set off the alarm and see if it still makes a noise................:erm:

Sure it's the hooter and not the wiring to the hooter? If it's the hooter, the alarm will not sound. If it's the wiring, it will.
