Is anyone elses 8ta been pretty **** lately?

More **** than normal. 'm getting frequent disconnects or the network just doesn't become available for large periods of time. I can see cell c, mtn and vodacom are working fine and don't seem to be having the same issues.

I wonder if they're having issues again like a couple of weeks ago.

Same here, has been erratic for at least three months now... It's the reason I only use prepaid data.

Last three days it became unresponsible at times. Yesterday I couldn't read MyBB in mobile mode without constant reloads. Now, surpisingly it goes fine. JHB, near Diepsloot.

I dont know if it is my router (D Link 2750U on the Latest firmware), or the dongle (Huawei e173), but it only stays connected for 2 minutes...

Sheesh, and here I thought is was just my gf's phone that was having problems. Frequently looses network completely. Have to reboot the phone to get the network back. She called it in, and they told here to switch to use the MTN network... which of course does nothing for her.

She's thinking about getting a new SIM... now i'm wondering if that would even help?

8ta was great until they started changing stuff for the telkom mobile rebrand ... not sure what was changed but I went from having an average of 500kbps (and up to as high as 1000mbps+) to having constant disconnects and speeds of 100kbps and this is with me having an external antenna providing me with a solid 4 bars of reception that 8ta installed ...

I understand I am not spending millions on 8ta but I am paying for a service and they are not delivering ... ... soon my net will be completely useless just like the other SP's

I use 8ta for quite a while now. When in metropolitan areas reception is good 99% of the time. They also improved on reception in some areas, they previously were not that good. On the platteland however, there often isn't any reception at all.

I got the 25GB Promo today & problems started.
Cannot ssh to my servers & when it works it disconnects after 1-2mins.
Thought it was my tp-link router at first, but tested with modem (E1820 + E1752) only & same result.
Didn't have this issue with the normal 2+1GB deal. Seems they somehow put you on a different profile for these packages.
But will monitor during week & check.

In this case try to set your device to manual network search and chose your home network.

Actually doing fine considering the time of night. The ping is usually about 150-200. DL usually 2-4Mbps during the afternoon and evenings, increasing to a steady 7-8Mbps through the night into early morning. UL usually 1-2Mbps during the day.

Re: Latency, I lose throughput maybe 2 or 3 times a days for about a minute. But even so, nothing like as bad as CellC, where I literally have to toggle flight mode or even restart the phone to get throughput, despite CellC's famous "Yes Sir, You have FULL HSDPA coverage. Fasten your seatbelt!" :wtf:
