I think Max Headroom gives good advice.
In my opinion bootstrap is good to know of and about and great for "corporate CRUD" websites or sites without soul or templates.
If you're wanting to create templates then go for it.
If you're working with a talented designer then they're not going to be sticking to the "12 columns of 180px with 20px gutters", they're going to be designing as they believe and feel things should happen.
In these instances you're probably going to have more joy writing the css from scratch instead of overriding over 9000 different classes.
If you think you're a designer then don't fall into the trap of "Designing to make development easy". That's bull**** and how you end up with "yet another crap looking template".
Again, Bootstrap is good to know but don't try use it in every situation.
