Paulshoff is not too bad btw, just need to know how far 'in' the place is ;) i.e. if its past the nature reserve dont bother, and don't even look at anything adjacent main road or close to if u don't want breakins/informal settlement round the corner there . The Advantage of Paulshoff (well side right next to Sunninghill) is bigger places (if older). Uhm.. with regardsto Sunninghill there a few to avoid like Chianti (Bus stoo + builders warehouse right there.. i remember there was a shootout at builders when it was further down the road).

Uhm.. btw new places are great for dodging transfer duties etc but do realize that the new places are significantly smaller from what i've seen and some are just done so badly it looks like cape town municipal flats hahaha ;)

meh.. i'm still looking for something good.. saw one the other day in Sunninghill but the places was designed crappy.. or like others where the tenants have taken their toll..

Oh, that reminds me. You'll see a lot of these very affordable townhouses in new complexes (like The William). Those are out on William Nicol to the North towards Diepsloot and the N14. Unless you work North of those complexes (like at Lanseria) you are better of avoiding those. Traffic is INSANE!

Big developments there though so might become a new hub/Sandton-like area in the next decade or so.

Nice thread I'm in Durban and not feeling to happy about wanting to rent and would rather buy from the word go, but I feel renting for a couple of months in an area you would like to buy in can help familiarise yourself with the place and deciding whether you like it or not before making a 10/20 year commitment.

With you on the photo thing. I'm also looking for an apartment and some of the photos are just idiotic. Like the ones with the bed in...I want to see the room, not the bed god dammit!
I think the bed pics are to give u an idea of the size of the room...some people dont know how 2 read measurements...pics are better

Nope, some of the pics are just horrible and don't give you any idea about the size of the room...
