This virus hits people with one foot in the grave hard and fast, that's why the hospitals get overwhelmed - so yeah, maybe not PC to say but that show it works., occasionally it does some collateral damage but that's how the cookie crumbles. If you have a pre-existing condition or over 70 take care - otherwise, meh, if you are healthy you are probably not going to die.

We can get the numbers from New York that was also hit hard - Deaths for people ages 0 -64 1893 (still not scary numbers) of those 1893 only 84 did not have pre-existing conditions. So basically 84 healthy people die ages 0 -64.

In this country we have millions of unhealthy people, I suppose that's why we are in lockdown - except the lockdown isn't that effective where the most vulnerable are.

I think people should be careful when saying it mainly effects those who have pre-existing conditions. Almost anyone, even seemingly healthy people have pre-existing conditions and they only find out about it when tested or after they are dead. Things that can go under the radar are high blood pressure and hypertension which is very common in today's society. You won't even know you have it but will be marked as someone with pre-existing conditions.

Neither of which are accurate comparisons with Covid-19. Or Ebola for that matter.
I guess my point is that "deadly" can have many interpretations. In the case of Covid-19 vs Ebola one could make a strong case that Covid-19 is more deadly. Ebola was discovered in 1976 and has killed about 20 000 people since then. Covid-19 has been around for a couple of months and has killed around 250 000 people already. Ebola clearly has a much high case fatality rate, Covid-19 is more communicable. Which one is more deadly?

Well if the 20000 Ebola victims had a 30 year average life expectancy ahead of them and the 250000 Covid-19 victims on average 3 years, then to me its much the same.

And if that 250 000 is 500 000 within the next month?

So lets see.

If a virus kills only 99% of people but spreads to the whole 7 billion people in the world and wipes out 99% of people alive, it is less deadly than a virus than kills 100% of people that only manages to spread to 1000 people.

What difference does this disease make (other than to blow it out of all proportions - hype) if you get it and it makes zero impact on your health and life?

Well the difference between yourself and I is that i'm not just thinking about myself. It may have no impact on my life, but it could (and probably would) have an impact on somebody else.

Keep up the good work students. You are doing exceptionally well convincing each other of the facts. Here at the Medical Institute of Massive Broadband we have never seen such extraordinary talent and display of knowledge.

Each of you remarkable students will receive a Diploma as soon as possible. Unfortunately due to current questionable circumstances the ceremony will only commence end of 2022, or until further notice.

In the mean time the Medical Institute of Massive Broadband would also like to bestow the qualification of Huge Pandemic Googling and Yahoo Conclusions on @Jabulani22. Without his valuable insight into the world of WhatsApp Received Documentation and Buzzademic Articles we will all still be stuck with confirmed and outdated statistics.

Again, we are extremely proud of each and everyone of you and we wish you all the best in your new careers as MIMB graduates.

I'd like to thank the people who made this possible , the media propaganda , the people who completely believe anything they say , the governments and law enforcement/armies around the world that jumped on this manufactured pandemic to sieze more power , uh fake news , graphs , linear vs exponential functions , last and not least China for their efforts throughout history in giving the world new and exciting viruses .

And I'm guessing your definition is the correct one?
Nope. Don't put words in my mouth.

I'm just a covid-19 has been hyped in the mass media and within governments to justify their consolidation of power believer.
I'm a guy that looks around and says, wait, the hospitals in SA are empty, in 6 weeks, 100-odd people died of the flu, our economy is tanked, the army is loose on the streets and 90 percent of what the shops sell is off limits, must mean that either this virus is way worse than they tell us, in which case their should be bodies in the streets, or it's overblown.

Take the emotion out of it and yes, you are correct. As that other girl said, the definition is open to interpretation.
