Is it just me or are you also experiencing abnormally high pings and spikes?

For the last week or so i have been experiencing weird spikes with my 8ta 3g.Its a 10gb contract .The random lag spikes is not normal as I have been using it for almost a year I can vouch for this

This is happening on international and local servers.
for example.

League of legends , EUW - Europe = 300 ms +- with lag spikes (normal= 200ms stable )

Battlefield Field 3 = 60ms+- (Local)

Local server pings seems fine but is very laggy and i experience ping spikes at random intervals, from 60 ms to 800- 900 ms .

Can anyone else confirm if they have been having similar issues?

I have done some speed tests and got 70kb down and 30kb up.
And 30 min later it would be back to normal which is about 500kb down and 300kb up.

I have 99% signal strength and live about 300m away from the tower..

Thanks in advance.

I live in Western Cape, Paarl.

Hi

I am in Pretoria and is also experiencing the same kind of issues, sometimes I will get a timeout browsing some websites hit reload and it loads fine. Ping speed is also jumping all over the place.

Seems to be a country wide problem then I'm experiencing the same on 8ta in the vereenging area the past week, the part where it just stops working is very irritating but that's only since friday the random pings and lags have been for plus minus a week.

I also have my 8ta connection for a year now and have never experienced this before its normally faster and more reliable than adsl for me with no issues at ll.

OK well im glad to hear that its not just me and actually a country wide issue according to 8ta users.

Next step would be for 8ta to give us some kind of response and let us know whats going on.

My 3g was always stable and more reliable than ADSL but not atm..

8ta REP plz let us know what is being done about this.

While 3G might work for you, it doesn't in the long run. Remember, wireless has a bottleneck at the tower. The more subscribers they sign up (more people using it) the less stable pings will become because they don't prioritize traffic like gaming.

Wireless will always be subject to ping spikes. Always.

STOP TROLLING.. we all know if a tower is congested with users then it would give unreliable internet. spikes and lag...

This is not the case here as other ppl are experiencing the same thing.. which means its a national issue...

FFS. like your nickname , : the grinch.. explains a lot.

i have had this 3g for more than a year and had adsl aswell .,. 3g kicks its a22...

Yes, its not for gaming. You ignoring that fact wont change it. The more people you have on your tower the poorer the performance. How do you know you dont have more clients on that tower now?

Because I use mine in two areas with separate towers, the one area is semi rural, highly unlikely to act up like this over night on two separate towers....as more users come on board it will be a gradual decrease in performance not a sudden blip from high speed reliable connection to high speed yet buggy connection the very next day.

The performance issues I'm experiencing are definitely nothing like the loaded mtn or vodacom networks, this is a network fault.

Sure, well my 8ta runs 100%. Must be a very specific part of the network. Like your tower.

Or towers in my case.....but it seems very stange indeed when my 8ta bb was running just fine my 10 gig promo started giving crap. Both on the same tower at the same time so maybe its a problem with certain 10 gig promo accounts only?

Well i have been using it for more than a year now with better ping than most adsl friends and it was and has been stable until about 1 week ago... seeing as its 8ta 3g which means its mobile, and i am experiencing this in Paarl and Worcester .. 60km apart... 2 different towns...

If you cant help ghoti . then plz stfu.....

Coincidentally ( I think not) a friend in the same town that lives on the opposite area and uses a different tower has the same issues as me at the same times)

We play bf3 together and when i get the high ping spikes. so does he.. He has 99% signal strength and so do I..

read the posts and you will see its been working perfect for gaming, but suddenly ppl with 8ta 3g living 1000km apart are having the same issues.. jeeeeesssssh always a troll around.

Think i am having the same issues. I have been playing bf3 since it came out on 8ta with the occasional hicups. Now since December everyday. I play, in game ping is 38ms-70ms. Then all of a sudden, i get disconnected from the game due to connection timeout and Teamspeak also loses connection. so frustrated with this BS at present. last time i had it, the tech came round and just done speed test. LOL, any idiot can do a speed test and copy and paste the results to word.

Well my 10GB contract is up in July and if it keeps up like this, i will be forced to go back to adsl.

This is exactly what i am talking about... I have the same issues with battelfield 3 and teamspeak.. The disconnects and the timeouts..

This is not normal and seeing as ppl from all over SA are experiencing the same thing it must be a network fault.. 8ta plz look into this as its not a user fault but service provider issue...
