Is it just me or is building a descent gaming rig ridiculously expensive these days?

You hook up some speakers ;) Might need to pick up a little composite to 1.5mm converter as I don't know whether the xbox has a headphone jack and severely doubt if it does, but they converters are cheap anyway. Get the xbox, get the screen, get the speakers, THEN worry about how to hook it up(The solutions are easy). Google is your friend when it comes to this as well.

I totally disagree with it being expensive!!
Wow ridiculous prices!!!

As with everything, hardware goes up. But those prices u guys came up with for a "high-end" system is ridiculous!!!
U must go out there and research, research and research!!! U dont need to buy Brand names anymore, really.
For example... my MB cost me R2500 just cause its Asus (Ok its got X38 chipset) but then theres the Foxxconn P35 which performs even better than mine (Trust me ive seen the results) and it costs R1400. That doesnt mean to say Foxconn will give you less quality, I just doesnt seem to be like that anymore.
U need to go research and tie ur research to ur budget... then u sorted. Thats wat I did, ended up googling for more than 24 hours in total and paying R9000 for my system and it beats the living hell outta all my friends pc's and they all running Nvidia hahahahahaha.
Lol and they paid more than me

Dont ever listen to what the Sales man ses, its all crap. Do ur own research.

I've had bad experiences with Foxconn in the past, which is why I decided to stick with Asus/Gigabyte/XFX until further notice ;)

You seem to be holding a grudge against NVIDIA :p

Ahhhh damn always thought there was a catch to Foxxconn, the prices sempt far to cheap. Quality not that good then I think??

Lol nah I dont have a Grudge against Nvidia, I just like the competition.
In the past LANs I used to goto, the teams where split up Ati vs Nvidia, so you could imagine the amount of hostility and amount of swear words being thrown around. Lol, was always done in a friendly manner though

I don't want to stir *** with you, but you seem to be almost directly contradicting what you said here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=121812

And please don't get sad like you did here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=121812 because I/we're not out to get you, but you need to realise that I/we aren't either here to make you feel good about yourself.

No there is no "catch" to Foxconn, ..he just had a bad experience, not everyone does. I'm sure you'll find people who have had bad experiences with even the biggest of big name brands.
I'm writing from a PC with a Foxconn Micro-Atx board that still has a 939 AMD 3200+ OC'd from 2.0 - 2.6GHz.
