Is it legal to put grass/leaves etc into black bags and then put it in the wheelie bins for them to collect or must it be taken to the dump?

Why would it be illegal?

As long as your wheelie bin does not exceed the weight limit it's fine. If it's too heavy the truck won't lift it and they'll just leave it there un-emptied.

What about animal faeces? Is that allowed within the grass/leaves bags?

I put my cuttings in my compost heap and my wood goes into a pile that gets turned into firewood every now and then.

Once in a while I dig a garden bed down around 1 meter deep then throw organics in there when it gets too much.

Makes a nice layer to help with water seeping back into the ground.

They started getting lazy here. They just decided to bring the truck closer to the bin.

Astro is by faaaar the most economical person I know. :D

lol, I also have a sering tree in the garden.
Only thing I can do with that vampire plant's leavings is bury it, if I compost it I end up with thousands of sering trees in my garden the following spring :(

If they pitch at all this time of year I would count myself lucky.

They will leave the bags if it is grass, usually one to two allowed weekly, if left you have to dump it using your car.

I just decided to sign up with a garden refuse collection service. Costs me R100/month for a weekly collection. They drop off a big oil drum for me to fill and then collect it every Thursday. Can also leave two extra black bags if there is more than the drum can take.

I think the two black bags were taken by the municipality with the regular waste on Wednesday as it was not there later that afternoon.

We're in Randburg. They'll take it as long as it is in bags and it fits in the wheelie bin. However they do not take bage outside the bins.
