Is it normal for 2nd hand Figo's to be so expensive?

Aren't they entry level Ford cars?

I mean the cheapest one I can find (that looks decent) on Gumtree is a 2013 model for R100k.

You can get a 2010 Ford Fiesta for the same price (and it'll have like 80-90k km's on the clock.

So what gives? Does 3 years make that much of a difference? I doubt I'll see a 2013 Figo sell for like 70k in 2016?

Small comparison.

Fiesta looks like an adult car, Figo looks like something a uni student drives. Still, both cars are good looking imo, I even like the 2005-2008 Fiestas tbh, they aged well.

Just curious about these two cars and the price similarity.

Well what did a new entry level Figo sell for in 2013? 100k does sound a bit pricey given what one would expect depreciation to be. But perhaps it's the affordability of it that's helping it retain its value.

In terms of comparing the two Fords and them having the same pricing, well obviously a 2 year old car is likely to be much more reliable than a 6 year old car... So rather get the more reliable car which isn't too long in the tooth!

Who uses Gumtree to try to determine car pricing? Do you use it to determine the oil price and the gold price as well? :p

Here you go:

Or you can get a 2014 for R 102,800 with 23455km on it:

Hahaha, people looking for cars on Gumtree and olx.... Why would you expect a good deal from people too cheap to pay R300 to put an ad on auto trader for a month or two??

Wasn't there a slight facelift for the Figo during that time?

Yes.

- new headlights (I prefer the old look)

- new taillight layout (I prefer the new one)

- new wheel caps (I prefer the new ones, so much I put Figo wheel caps on my Ikon I also have) for the Ambiente

- new mag wheels for the Trend

Below links pics will show the differences if you browse thought them:
