Morning fellow desire addicts,

I was just wondering if its possible to change your ISP on your phone itself. e.g buy 1gb for R50 from gConnect and use that as your data connection instead of vodacom. Maybe adding it as an additional APN?

Okay, been on Gconnect's website:

Are there any restrictions when using the new web application on my iPhone to connect to G-Connect 3G?
The main goal of this web application is to simplify your connection to G-Connect 3G via your iPhone.
The iPhone currently does not support Background Applications and as a result Keep-Alive cannot be provided at this stage. In other words when the iPhone goes into standby (Screen goes black) for more than five minutes the G-Connect session will terminate and you will have to login again.
Also take note that applications utilising Push Notifications will not work reliably as they require Data Connection to always be on.
The new web application has been tested and verified on iPhone OS 3.0 and 3.0.1 only. The process should work on previous versions of the iPhone OS but this is not guaranteed.
The iPhone OS 3.0 has a built in “Connection Manager” for Connecting to Wi-Fi Hotspots. It will detect the Hotspot as soon as you connect and ask you to log in. The iPhone will now remember this login process and automatically log you in the next time you connect to a hotspot with the same name.

Me figures it could work, but it will be crappy, and not as usable as 3G is currently.
