Is it still a braai if there is no dop/alcohol?

Is it still called a braai if there is no dop?

GOt a buddy who does not drink, he is th elife of the party when we braai. As long as you enjoy it, and do not stifle the chap who wants to have a drink, then all good.
But those teetotals that try to preach to everybody, and the suipgat who falls over and throws spice over everybody's meat... gives me itchy knuckles

Drinking is bad for you, it's always a good time to stop now.

How about if you braai a vegetarian?

At my first sober braai we had to cater for a vegeterian. It was the weirdest thing ever trying to figure out how do you braai for them. Are you allowed to share the same grill, or do you first braai their whatever-the-hell-it-is and then your meat?

Then you ask yourself how long will it take to braai? Is it still raw?

Needless to say, my social group was rather happy the day we became short of a vegan.

Yeah, I read that comment about it being a bbq, but that's also nonsensical.

It's just something I've always wondered about as it really confuses a lot of people at braais that I don't drink.

As a result, I always end up as the designated braai master by the League of WAGB's (Wive's and Girlfriends of Braaiers) to ensure the food gets done before children start biting each other out of hunger.
