I've been told that leaving the country is a cowardly thing to do or that I'm some kind of traitor...when reality it's the single scariest thing I've done. Scary, difficult, worth it.

Well said Voicy. It's the most difficult decision to make and see through.

I'm thinking of leaving.(said this before) Back in 83 a German collegue of my father said, "this country is ****ed, I'm leaving" My parents then also started to think of leaving. Unfortunately my fathers illness caused that to be scrapped as well as my mom's family being close. 33 years later we can see where this has gone.

Who are the ones? What oppertunites? The ones who are here don't have work. You want to inform all those people who can't find work what opportunities there are, taking AA, BEE etc into consideration. Then security? You must be blind and deaf if you can't see the way this place is going. Then food security comes to mind, price of everything going through the roof. YOu can see from politicians what the feeling towards whites are, and the news the last couple of weeks, especially the creche incident. all aimed at whites. You want to inform us why we should stay.

Um... I didn't say you should stay, the opposite actually.

there's the door!!!

Choose wisely where you go.

Hope your plans work out if you do decide to leave. There's a lot of sacrifices you will make along the way, but the benefits far outweigh these. In SA, you're tied down by your creature comforts and way of life - which is incredible. But you're constantly fearing the worst and the smallest of situations cause enormous paranoia and anxiety, let alone the uncertainty surrounding the country's political and economic landscape. Here in the UK, life is pretty tough. I used to have a maid every day, had a massive house and lots of cars and luxuries. Here, we live in a two bedroom apartment and I use the tube to work. However, on the other hand, my wife is no longer constantly paranoid about crime and we live a completely stress free life now. To me, that is priceless.

Everyone has different priorities, and life is what you make of it.

Yes and every single person that leaves makes sure to tell you that.

So Brave...

Not really. I have a few friends and family who've moved back to SA after trying life abroad. It just wasn't for them and the lifestyle that SA offered them was more in line with their priorities and needs in life. That being said, do you think it's easy leaving behind well established businesses or high profile corporate careers to move to an entirely foreign country where you know no one and have no professional repertoire?

There's no need to be bitter or judgmental. Everyone has their own opinion.

South Africa needs us the most right now, and all you can think about is where can you go rape, plunder and steal next?

You will want to be really careful with that type of derogatory hate speech.

I'm a duel citizen and it seems home #2 just voted itself into chaos. Will have to wait for the dust to settle.

Why are you against people leaving. Isn't it their choice where they want to live?
100%it is their choice i agree. Though when you drag my beloved country through the dirt in the process, a sense of national pride moves many a patriot.

Never said I'm against it, if people want to leave then go, don't come telling everyone how brave you are and how **** this place is.

Then you get the people that have left and have to tell everyone how it's the best decision they ever made and how great it is and everyone that can should do the same.

Then there's the people that think this country is doomed cause they leaving... Oh no what are we going to do, people with There degrees/qualifications are leaving

It's like I'm leaving this **** place, but I need to make sure I don't regret it so I'm going to talk as much crap and drag it through the mud so I feel better about myself.

So, why should we stay where we aren't welcome? I'm still waiting.

If you are referring to the post Voicy made I can honestly say that I've never read something where he badmouthed South Africa.
I think it is brave if people would rather uproot to find a better place than to just accept their fate.
