Is it worth getting more RAM if you have 8gb RAM and run 64 bit Windows?

Do you run 4 games at once or do you use extremely intensive programs?

Depends on use. 8GB is fine for most peeps. I run 16GB but thinking about bumping that up because of Hyper-V.

This, only reason I have 32gb is VM's. Otherwise 16gb max can run basically anything at the same time

Check the limitations for the version of Windows you are running. If it's a Pro version, you should be fine but some of the Home versions are limited (Win 7 Home Basic 64-bit is max 8GB RAM.)

32GB is nice for VM's, whilst gaming, and leaving all your programs you used in the last month open.

Instead of purchasing more RAM, buy yourself a SSD to speed up startup, opening programs, and virtually everything. Much more worthwhile than RAM and 8GB should be plenty. So my advice is to buy a SSD instead.

Since no one has mentioned it: If your motherboard supports Ivy Bridge, then get an i5 3570. It will be the most bang for about R2k. 8GB ram is fine. If your your current M/board can OC, then an i5 3570k might be a better option.

I use 8gb + ssd at work and it's fine.. although I do find instances where I'm coming up against a memory limitation. I think there's no question that 8gb is becoming too little for a heavy user.

I Have 16gb and an SSD... My PC never uses more than 6gb of ram when gaming ;) So I would absolutely recommend the SSD first! Never run a PC without an SSD. Best upgrade you could ever do!

I recently upgraded to an SSD (from a WD-Green 2tb drive  ). Improves performance drastically. I got the Samsung Evo 840 120 gig for about R1400 . I also have 8gig ram in my pc and it is enough. Only get more ram if you are going to run VM's, otherwise, more ram will just be a waste of money. Just remember that you would also need to keep your original hard drive for storage, because the SSD will fill up quickly.
