Hi, I'm sure this was asked many times before but just interested to hear recent success / failures wrt porting to TM in the N/Subs - CTN?
Maybe I'm just pssed at MTN, being with them for more than 20 years and the way they've totally messed up a golden marketing opportunity with the S6 launch and pre-orders. I've pre-ordered a few weeks ago and you would have thought they'd be prepared for this. It should be said that I'm on a 'corporate' account and it basically means I benefit from a discount but the account is in my name and all under my control. So on Thursday I get a call from MTN Direct about the pre-order. The lady checks my account and sighs...'sorry we're going to pass on your details to our corporate division', and still nothing. I would have expected them to evaluate each pre-order and make sure the right people deal with them. I should have had my new phone by now....unrealistic to expect that? They could have contacted each pre-order applicant, asked if you'd like to collect at your nearest MTN store and make sure when those stores opened on the 10th, the phones are there waiting, along with some goodies etc. Imagine the marketing opportunity :)
Anyway, I've been wanting to go to TM for a while now. Their deal also comes with the 1GB x 24 months and they have free wifi hotspots as well.
Any good / bad experiences and is it something to recommend? Or should I rather stay with the devil I know? Will definitely complain to MTN though...just wanted to know if I should move on too?
tx guys!

The free WiFi works well.
Depending on the phone you have, the call quality and routing may be an issue. I work out in S/Subs and stay on the west coast, but the signal has moments of being crap. Sometimes I can't receive calls. Disconnect from the network and reconnect and it works.

Their deals are good though. Why don't you port to prepaid-try it out, and see how it goes for you in terms of signal quality. Then move on to one of their packages? or just get a prepaid sim and try it out?

Firstly the best is to get a prepaid TM SIM Card and test it where you are

Signal strength can vary from room to room in a house or desk to desk at the office.
TM roams onto MTN anyway (except for Telkom Mobile Only Data) as if you are on Telkom Mobile.
Telkom Mobile coverage is fine for me most of the time.

Thanks for the replies guys, makes sense to try a TM prepaid sim before jumping ship.
