Just a qestion... does MTN allow for some leniancy when you exceed you data bunde? I highly doubt the answer will be favourable but the reason im asking is because the this month (ending on the 10th) i went roughly 90MB over my data bundle and was not charged for it. It definitely wasn't because some of my previous unused data rolled-over and therefore had more to use because i make sure i use every byte by the end of the month.

Maybe im just lucky but also very curious as to why this would be.

About 2 weeks ago I went significantly "over-cap" on a prepaid 100MB bundle...

I had already spent about 50MB and had about R5 available (verified by calling 141), when I visited WindowsUpdate (new machine). There were 126MB worth of updates, so I just started them, and went out. When I got back, I was amazed to see that they had all downloaded. I tried sending an SMS from the dashboard, and 555 told me it failed due to my zero balance. But I could still surf, albeit quite slowly.

I rebooted, and then I couldn't surf anymore.

contract... my choice 150

Remeber on your Mychoice 150 you will have your budnle and the R 150 airtime above that. I would assume that the 90 MB would have been taken of your R 150. And prob. another R 150 you could have carried from last month.

I already know that. When i applied for my contract, since i have two (1 for phone and 1 for data card) i told them to scrap the R150 for my data card and just give me 75MB. added on 350MB so 350+75 is 425MB. I exceeded the 425 by over 90MB not the 350. and i doubt i carried over from previous month because i exceeded that aswell! MTN does include sent information in the total amount of used data or not?

Hi
Are you on the Mychoice 150 or the Mycoice 150 Topup. There is a difference.

Mychoice 150: Give you R150 rand value to utilise, one this is depleted it continues billing as a normal contract.

Mycoice 150 Topup: Give you R150 rand value to utilise, once depleted it wont work any further until you load airtime cards.

When you say you asked them to scrap the R150 and give you 75MB, I dont see how that is possible. That cant be done. The airtime value cannot be converted to MB just like that. If you have a data bundle loaded assuming a 350MB, once used up it starts billing at R2 per MB and utilises the airtime available i.e. the R150 you have.

If you PM me the data number, I can see whats happening with the billing.

Ok, probably not scrap it but the guy told me if i wanted the R150 or the 75MB data. As you said that can't be done and i also found out the same. Still works out to 75MB when billing @ R2/MB. so then assuming i got 90MB over 425MB which would be my bundle plus the 75MB @ R2/MB, i would have expected to see a data amount billed for R180 which i was expecting but alas nothing... everything was sitting on a wonderful 0.

And im on mychoice 150 not the top-up.

Another thing... you able to look at my illing even tho im with italk or are you assuming im with MTNSP?

Hi Acid

Thanks I got the Data Msisdn. Apologies I was away. I have had a look through the billing. All seems fine. It does not seem like you went over he allocated usage. Maybe if you can supply the exact dates that you are querying maybe I can investigate further. Also how do you monitor you usage? Do you use the counters on the Data card application?

Well the two dates i can remember are months:10thFeb-10thMarch <----assumed data was carried over so didnt think to querry this one. Main one is then 10th March-10th April <----- this is the one i went 90MB over.... apparently now that you hint the counter might be faulty.

And yes, i do use my dashboard as my data counter.... why? Don't see how it can be incorrect unless its some problems in the program itself.

I do assume data is counted as both "sent" and "received"?

Hi
I just had a look now. Does not seem like you were over the allocation. Seems like you were still within the bundle limits for this period. So I am not sure. Could be the counters are incorrect on the application. Let me think a bit :D

This happened to me last night..
My prepaid bundle expired yesterday so I started downloading to run it down..
It hit 0 and I was not disconnected... I went on to download over 200 MB more ( :D ) before I decided it was getting a little late...

Well anyway.. this sort of network "problem" I can live with.. :D
