Is my cellphone provide obliged to provide me with call+SMS records (in/out)?

My mother has been the victim of online bank fraud. She is trying to prove that she didn't authorise the transactions and in this regard she has requested records of incoming/outgoing calls and SMSes for her number from Vodacom. They claim they cannot provide this information without a court order. Surely if its your own number they shouldn't require a court order?

Anyone know the letter of the law on this? Thanks.
