Could you explain your reasoning? If someone leads your country to disaster... how is that great?

If someone leads a country to a worse state than when they got control of it.. how is that great?

Germany, coming from a record breaking defecit and abosolute misery, after world war one, was led by Adolph Hitler into a super power (at the time) that defeated most of Europe. Not saying he is a hero, but a good leader. Yes, regardless of where he may have led his nation, it was still he who taught them to be proud of their nation and to take arms in a time where it seemed they were doomed.

I think if the Allies were not so cruel to Germany after WW I, Hitler would not have stood a chance in hell in creating the momentum for WWII.

He was an excellent leader until he got greedy. I think he was always psycho, so although an excellent leader a terrible humantarium.

Wait a minute. Hitler actually brought Germany out of total economic and social collapse to a nation with pride and believe in themselves. It did go a bit sour later, but Hitler did not ruin Germany.

It wasn't sustainable though. Hitler was pushing public spending (look at Japan nowadays) and public debt was going through the roof. The aim of this was to consolidate his power and to build up a force to spread Germany eastwards and to clean it up from all the 'undesirables'.

Yes he did... 1933-1945.. wow.. what a legacy man. So many german families were able to prosper under his guidance. You forget the bit where he nationalised most business then started a world war to fund his greed. The Nazi party was a socialist party....

I honestly can see how you can see him as a "Great" world leader. His charisma in all honesty was that great. However, I have different standards when it comes to my definition of great. Since Hitler left nothing behind but hate and rubble... having the gift of the gab and directing your people to disaster does not fit my definition of great.

Yep. To get Germany so quickly of the ground was amazing, but there was no way in hell they could keep it up.

For one man to take up the hopeless poor Germans and make them what they are today takes a great man. Hitler was a great man, he just lost his way to the end. And it was not due to personal gripes that the Jews where killed, he was the man in charge and his being blamed for it with reason. But it was not his idea ;)

I have been through heated arguments before about my support for Hitler and what he has done for the German people. People who doesn't have german in them won't understand. Hitler would have gone down as one of the greatest leaders of all time if it wasn't for his advisors. Hey, Bush on his "Muslim" war can been seen in the same light as Hitler.

It's easy to put a gag order in place in Germany banning any mention of Hitler and the Nazi's. This alone has killed all there was to the greatness that was Hitler before the Genecide. Most people outside of Germany and German heritage will never know who Hitler really was.

Yip, Germany is beter off today than it was before WW1 and it all started with a guy called Adolf Hitler. Millions of people lost their lives innocintly but he achieved alot of his goals. Germany lost the war because they took Russia on at the wrong time, but Hitler was a good leader. He made really really bad decisions and that caused pain to alot of people and for that I don't think he can be excused.

Anyways, Germany is still paying WWII debt. There is a special tax levied every tax payer in Germany to cover the countries debt of WWII. As far as I know, they don't actually have any debt left to pay of, but the money goes for initiatives to prevent another world war as it is devestating to the world. This tax is hapering the German economy quite a bit!

There seems to be a casual correlation to the conservative/liberalism in a person and how they perceive Hitler.. hmmm .. interesting....

Do you know why he did this ?

You can see this today also. Jewish people go to Jewish doctors, Jewish shops, Jewish everything. They have money coming in and keep it amoungst themselves. This started to kill off the ecconomy. What would you have done in that situation ?

So then I assume you also have no respect for Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, Hannibal, Julius Ceasar, and many others, even Churchhill?

I agree with Pitbull. Maybe you have to have German blood to understand. I have never agreed with what Hitler did, but I can understand why he did it and I can have respect for what he accomplished. The same as I have for many other great and interesting people through history. A lot of them I can't agree with but can have respect for.

No, see now once again this is going the wrong direction. This was in relation to him nationalising businesses. If you have a look at India today, that is what Germany was like. There was no middle class, only extremely rich people and extremely poor people. That has all changed, because of what Hitler did.

The Jews being killed in the 100's of thousands was something completely different ;) I would suggest you go read up a little. The executions of the jews was not even Hitlers idea, he was fueled into believing he is doing the right thing by his advisors and alliances...

But I'm very onesided on this topic I'd rather just read what you guys have to say about it. All I can ask is that you guys read more about this subject and not just go and look at it from a sympathy point of view. If you research this subject you need to be completely open minded and you will see the good and bad of both sides of the war. I feel the war was wrong and 100's of thousands of jews died in vein. But I also believe Hitler faught for what was right ub his eyes and many many many Germans to this day think he was the best thing to have ever happen to Germany.

But they are not allowed to speak out and in the open about it. The whole mistake they made in WW2 was to execute all the Jews. If they never did that, the war would have been seen for what it was. And not have been given a sympathy side

They all left great legacy behind. Alexander was not defeated in battle when he died and several cities still bear his name.

Genghis Khan setup the framework that would allow the Mongol empire to expand to be one of the biggest the world had known till that point. He left a positive legacy for Mongols that exists today.

Same with Hannibal and Ceaser.. they both expanded their empires and made their for a while where better off for their leadership.

Hitler might have being a voice spark for a while.. but he left behind a worse off Germany.

Not quite. Actually the rest of the world forced Germany and Japan into a worse situation after the war so as to make sure they will never rise up again.
