Dear IS Customer
Internet Solutions has two STM1 satellite circuits that terminate on antenna RCK-01A at the Roaring Creek (Pennsylvania, USA) Earth Station. Our vendor, AT&T, has a requirement to make adjustments to the Antenna Tracking System. In order to complete thi
s task, the two circuits need to be temporarily migrated to a second antenna (RCK-02A). These adjustments will enhance the stability and tracking ability of the antenna.
We intend on migrating one STM1 circuit at a time, to minimise the impact on our customers. The migration will result in the circuit being down intermittently during the maintenance, and traffic will be rerouted.
The first STM1 move is scheduled for:
Friday night, the 6th October 2006 at 22h00 (SAST), through to Saturday morning, the 7th October 2006 at 08h00 (SAST).
We will then go through a period of monitoring the first circuit for 14 hours after which we will commence with the migration of the second STM1.
The second STM1 move is scheduled for:
Saturday night, the 7th October 2006 at 22h00 (SAST), through to Sunday morning, the 8th October 2006 at 08h00 (SAST).
This will result in intermittent degradation of International access services for ADSL and 6-to-1 Access customers during the maintenance.
General internet browsing to some international sites may also be affected, as traffic to two of our cache servers (one cache at a time), may be interrupted.
Please do not hesitate to contact either your IS account manager or the relevant service representative should you require further information or the IS GSC on +27(0)11 - 575 0055.
Regards
The IS Ops Team.
Why does IS have so much problems? International goes down a lot and they blame the weather! Heard of SAT3?![]()
Dear IS Customer
The scheduled change to move the first one of our STM1 satellite circuits this past Friday night (6 Oct) was successful. However, the second STM1 satellite link move scheduled for the Saturday night was postponed as a precautionary measure. IS, together
with our vendor, took the decision to monitor the performance of the fist circuit for five days to confirm stability before moving the second circuit.
We are now ready to move the second STM1 satellite circuit on antenna RCK-01A at the Roaring Creek (Pennsylvania, USA) Earth Station, to a second antenna - RCK-02A.
As communicated to our customers last week, our vendor AT&T, has a requirement to make adjustments to the Antenna Tracking System. In order to complete this task, the two circuits need to be temporarily migrated to the second antenna (RCK-02A). These ad
justments will enhance the stability and tracking ability of the antenna.
The migration will result in the circuit being down intermittently during the maintenance, and traffic will be rerouted.
The second STM1 move is now re-scheduled for:
Saturday night, the 14th October 2006 at 22h00 (SAST), through to Sunday morning, the 15th October 2006 at 08h00 (SAST).
This will result in intermittent degradation of International access services for ADSL and 6-to-1 Access customers during the maintenance.
General internet browsing across all services to some international sites may also be affected, as traffic to one of our cache servers may also be interrupted.
Please do not hesitate to contact either your IS account manager or the relevant service representative should you require further information or the IS GSC on +27(0)11 - 575 0055.

Where does IS post their Network failure notices?
Dear IS Customer
On Saturday, the 21st October 2006 at 06h00 - 14h00 (SAST), the Operations Facilities Team will be replacing one of our power generators in Rosebank.
We will be upgrading this generator from a 500kVA to a 600kVA unit, to ensure that we meet the future capacity requirements expected at our Rosebank PoP. This generator supplies power, in the event of a power failure, to our Alpha IDC (Internet Data Cen
tre) and to our main Networks node room.
This is a vital change to an extremely important IS facility - it is our largest IDC and network node. Thorough planning and preparation has been done to ensure that this significant change takes place smoothly, without impacting any of our customer ser
vices. We do not expect any downtime - we do not expect any service interruption.
Please do not hesitate to contact either your IS account manager or the relevant service representative should you require further information or the IS GSC on +27(0)11 - 575 0055.
Regards
The IS Managed Services Team
