Is R 5000 bail show the court is serious about crime ?

With regards to this case, bail amounts are set relative to the accused's income level; if R5 000 is excessive for him, or his family, what's the chances that he'll flee, and risk forfeiting bail? And, even if he wanted to flee, I don't see how his family would allow it if they had posted bail.

Sorry Blunomore, what is your beef with Marine? He has posted a perfectly reasonable reply to the thread topic, and like him, I support the death penalty to be used in SA. SA has extremely high levels of violent crime, and the few people who are caught should not be wasting tax-payers money by living off the state every single year. They need to be executed and removed from society forever. Forget this 'rehabilitation' BS because that comes from the liberal school of thought.

Thank you :) I get really upset at the support these criminals have and people hide behind "human rights" :mad: What human rights do those dead innocent people have ?

Exactly. Bail should be set at a level relative to the crime and the individual's finances. In this case we can see that R5000 is indeed a high bail amount.

So far I've yet to see anyone demonstrating that a properly implemented and careful application of the death penalty would be any cheaper. I'd support it if it cost no more or were at least demonstrably effective and in addition those involved in the investigation/prosecution must be held criminally liable, in the worst cases subject to seizure of assets and execution themselves, if a mistake is made.

The problem here is that the criminal will have so many uncles and brothers, coming up with R5000 for bail could be fairly easy.

Hmm is that all you can throw at me? At least I support the death penalty for murdering thugs but no wait lets all hug the criminal and hope he does not do it again, that seems to be the PC thing to do. Maybe go and tell the murdered victims' families that he got bail of 5k.
Oh and :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
These animals need to be hanged !!
To hell with being PC

Marine, I do not disagree with the sentiment of your post, I am no liberal PC MoFo.

I am bemused by the superior air that you answer people with, your standard reply to people that dare to disagree with you is :rolleyes:. If someone does not share your opinion why not engage them in dialogue at an equal level without resorting to superiour airs.
