Im getting 50kbs torrent dl speed at the moment which is worse then even my old as hell adsl back in the day, i would say its even worse then my Cell C 3G connection. At home ive never ever gone above 600kps and at work on a good day its 1.mb +/- on a VERY rare good day.
For gaming its piss poor with no possible use for it getting 400-500ms ping and terrible latency spikes which im okay with as I use it for downloading and streaming/youtube, but even that is a frustrating experience with constant buffering on 480p quality its a frikken joke.
I have a telkom lte simcard which i also thought was kak untill i used Rain, i can game and download on that sim no problem. I dont expect very fast speed from Rain but be atleast usable.......

Im using a huawei b25 router which stays at 2-3bars and live in MIlnerton/Brooklyn area Capetown. Is there no workaround tool or way to check my tower in my area?
Will a antenna help in this situation?
Any help will be appreciated

Trust me you are not alone.
I logged requests with their helpdesk a week ago since it was working fine during peak periods when they gave us free data and then off peak its dismal.
Even with a reference number allocated to my query, nobody has bothered to respond for the last month.

how do i do that, using the band tool? Wont my tower also have to support Band 38\41?

Yes it has to support it.

Rain in most cases where they have their own towers which is probably 80%+ of the times they run LTE on Band 3 and Band 38/41. Routers available aren't able to aggregate them so you need to manually force the bands. You can use the tool I attached.

Fill your details then click connect.

Select Band 41 from the drop down box and click apply. If you get stuck with NO SERVICE then you know your tower does not support B38/41. Run the tool again if you have no service and change it to automatic.

I do not worrry about torrents.
I am just complaining about the sub 1Mbps speeds and horrible ping where buffering is the norm.
On youtube it seems to only want to stream at 144p.
So fuzzy and even then its stop/start and buffering. This cannot be what I am paying for.

my speedtest is weird in that I am getting "great" upload speeds but do not need it.

Ping: 127ms
Download: 0.39Mbps
Upload: 11.29Mbps

That is FDD LTE for you. Dual channel bandwidth. So when everyone is downloading only the download slows as it's running a separate channel.

thanks man but it looks like my tower is in the 20% that isnt a Rain tower-it just hits a no service, so probably congestion is my problem?

Ohh no okay well that was pretty much your only saving grace. If there is just Band 3 LTE on the tower means it's likely just a Vodacom tower that Rain uses as well.

I also do not have access to another band as it is a Vodacom tower that Rain is using.
