Is Rampage-gaming.co.za a legit online selling company?

Commiserations and I hope you get your money back.

When you do, I can recommend NGR, Rebel Tech and WootWare. Am building my shiny new i7 rig this weekend: ordered all the components from these three stores on Monday morning, paid 'em all on Tuesday and as of this afternoon have received everything.

I was recommended Rebeltech and Wootware by friends. Bought from RebelTech and they've got amazing service.

RG gaming complaint

What a bunch of amateurs. Thanks to all for the heads up. I will stay away for sure. Never part with your money in advance before you can trust a supplier, these guys really seems like a small bunch of juvenile amateurs for sure or maybe even a big scam. I wonder if they realize the reputation power MyBB can provide for their business success or on the flip side the devastating start of a business failure as judged on these posts so far..

Hi , Zappadude here

after my long waiting i finally got hold of them , they told my some BS about accounting problems im getting my money back ASAP (hopefully) i was wondering if you could check out this website www.evetech.co.za looks about the same as RG but their customer service looks fishy do they look like the real deal

Evetech is 100% legit. I know of a lot of people who have bought there. You can also buy at their physical shop.

My last order with Rampage Gaming was pathetically handled. Avoid them at all costs.

I have Firefox browser with the WOT add-on. It warns you against sites like these. Install the WOT add-on and go to this site and you'll see what I'm talking about.

After reading this I am a bit concerned dealing with these guys, the claim they will get limited stock for the Asus HD7850-DC2T-2GD5 on Thursday, and after I emailed almost all the online shops in SA, they are the only ones that claim that they will have stock for the card all the other shops ETA is end of August. So as desperately as I want the Asus 7850 must I rather wait?

I saw a lot of complaints on Hellopeter, claiming they have stock and then only to get it after 4 weeks.

Also anyone know why the owner was banned from Mybb?

After reading through the entire thread just now, you must be crazy to still want to buy from them, unless something changed radically in the last 2 months.

Lets try and approach your question with logic.

Who would this small company get their ASUS stock from? A dodgy direct import, or, a wholesaler?

a) If they can get it from a local wholesaler, why cant any of the other providers that you have checked get it too? Are they slackers, or are these guys lieng?
b) if they get it through some kind of other channell, is that what you want to pay for?

You know that old saying....when something appears to be too good to be true, it usually is.

Use it, dont use it. etc.

I bought an internal HDD from these guys a few weeks ago. Received the drive without any problems

I placed an order with Rampage Gaming on 11 December for a PC Gaming headset.
I got an e-mail confirming the order.
Paid for it by EFT the same day.
Then also on the 11th I got a thank you e-mail for making the payment.
Then I never heard anything else from them.
On the 18th December I sent an e-mail asking them for a order progress update.
They replied with a form letter - "delivery confirmation - Response Requested
If you received your order please rate us.
If you did not receive your order then wait 48 hours and contact us again."
On the 21st December I e-mailed them again, but by that time they had already closed for Christmas.
They only open up again on the 7th January, 2013.

So that was one Christmas present down the drain! :(
The order status on their website says "Payment Received - Order Being Processed"

I did a Google search before I bought with them, but somehow I missed this...

i've made

71 purchases at Takealot.com - no problems - once had to wait for a hdd but got 2 in the end - only 1 RMA
21 at Sybaritic - long processing time
7 at Rebeltech - best prices in SA online - great service
7 at Prophecy - long processing time
3 at Landmark - bad packaging - got a hdd in a courier bag in the antistatic bag with NOTHING else. GPU damaged...
3 at Wootware - great service
3 at IkonicIT - no problems
3 at Warp - great service
3 at PCNatics - great service
2 at NGR - no problems
2 at NIVO - no problems
1 at Rampage Gaming - no problems
1 at Arx Valdex - adverised in stock, verify, when paid no stock.

Lately I'm only using Takealot, Sybaritic or Rebeltech. Rather stick with the established online stores.

Just a follow up here. This guy has never returned my money since I canceled the order, and it seems like a lot of other people are also being scammed out of their money.

[Do not be deceived by the few "positive" comments. This guy has been known to spam sites with fake positive reviews]

Getting ready now to take him to the small claims court, file a fraud charge against him and report him to SARS.

Keep us updated... he shouldnt be doing business. Even if some people have never had a problem with them. He can't steal from some people.

Hi Mika1000

Wow, that's very concerning for me and I apologise.
We take a lot of care with the wrapping of all our orders, especially HDD's (I've even bought in extra-heavy duty bubble wrapping and boxes).
It's possible your order was shipped from a supplier directly as we do from time-to-time to decrease the shipping time. In this case we would not see the order prior to delivery to you.
I have not heard of any complaint from the staff regarding your order so if you could please let me know on [email protected] so I can follow up and sort you out with a replacement if needed.

Thanks and sorry again,
Andy

So it's another Brian Gibello inspired business. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a hand in this scam too. It is his modus operandi, although I think he might have been in prison when the business started up. Has anyone forwarded this to antithesis yet?
