I am cancelling my long outstanding ticket number relating to international speed issues. I am not doing this because speeds are good. My average internationl browsing speed is between 2.5KB - 5KB.

Two months of dealing with sentech second level support has been fruitless... it has been like asking my gran for tech support.

I have decided simply to wait out until another offering comes my way which then I will cancell Sentech.

To prospective new users... dont be fooled by a hand full of people 'claiming' good speeds... fact is Sentech have fscked up big time as at work we have a 512Kb connection which pulls a maximum of 15KB/s on a good day... Average is 10KB. At home I have a 128 which pulls in on average 3-5KB.

Wait for more options or stick with Telkom. Sentech is nothing more then the great communications joke of South Africa, possibly the world.

Do not cancel yr ticket. keep it open, it will give you more ammo when you want to cancel.

i have given up with them completely they are a joke and as soon as mini dslams are rolled out ill be leaveing prehaps they can pull a rabbit out the hat but i doubt it ...

the speeds did improve recently and i lifted the cap on my line from 42 to 64kbs [this is ridiculous on a 128k package] it goes through patches when it seems ok for a day or two and then you have nothing but **** again ....

I get the same loosecannon. Some days it's cruising, but the next it's impossible to get more than 50kbs.

A note to this though: It only happens on P2P. I have no problem downloading 128kbs + on ftp, even though it is multithreaded. Since the stuff on p2p is not really business related I don't have a big issue with it.

MyWireless 128, Tower: 82, Signal: 13%, SNL: 6, ber: 42%, node: 3

Crazy thing is, I would consider upgrading to 256 or 512 as even if it should work halfway decently (which it doesn't), 128 is too slow for my needs. But from what I read here 256 & 512 is even more pathetic than 128. So I'm hoping that somewhere in next year there will be something better on the market, and then I will cancel, even if I have to go to court. It is probably not all that difficult to be better than Sentech or Telkom. Let's hope.

The biggest joke is that I spoke to the NoWire technical guys and said that I wanted to upgrade to 256, but only if they could tell me honestly that it would be better. Their answer: wait [V]

Got to love the system!

yeah... I figured as much... thanks for the heads up. I havent cancelled my ticket number.
I just couldnt be arsed with doing what sentech 2nd level want me to do to 'fix' the problem.

The last thing they wanted me to do was try all the different firmwares and do speed tests... this after I kept reminding them that my national speeds are excellent and that signal between modem and tower are good. As I said before... its like recieving tech support from my gran.

just waiting now... not long until new operators come out...

It's far from fixed, it's just different.

I'm REALLY PISSED OFF right now trying to watch the second US debate (I like to watch this kinda stuff) on streaming video from the BBC - it's a 35kbs stream which a farkin 56k modem should be able to handle, but this piece of **** connection sucks balls.

It disconnects every 5 to 10 seconds for 30 to 50 seconds making it totally FU CK ING IM FUC KING POSSIBLE TO WATCH !

Sentech, I hate you, your a bunch of useless f ucking c unts.

It took me 3 hours to watch the first 90 f ucking minute debate.

Mywireless still sucks and the moment iBurst is available, Sentech can Fu CK off - I'll cancel and put a stop on the debit, let thier fu cking lawyers contact me, I don't give a damn.

I go through ups and downs with this service that right now, I have no choice but to keep, but I'll be soon ditching it.

My standard of living took a dive when the last company I was in went under - don't have the luxury of TV or satellite + prefer the net.

Fact is, the service Sentech advertised should easily be able to provide basic realmedia streaming audio, especially considering I'm selecting 56k modem speeds in the config and the stream is 34.5k !!!

I managed to watch 40 minutes - I had a wonderful run of 11 minutes straight and then total lockup. I know it's not the BBC servers because I did a check via a south african server I have access through via ssh.

I have to say the up and down of this connection is driving me up the wall. One day it rocks, the next 3 days it sucks and so on in random permutations.

There's more consistency in lumpy mashed potato.
