Is there any way to protect expensive electronics from getting stolen?

Hey guys, recently had a break in attempt (they ****ing went at my safety gate with some sort of power tool I **** you not - got about halfway through - too before something must have spooked them).
Kinda gave me a wake up call.
Although my house has burglar bars and an alarm, once they're in, everything is just lying around. It will take 3 minutes to clear out my ****.

I have a few items I'd like to secure in some way if possible. Perhaps some sort of cabinet that locks but still allows for airflow?
My PC I doubt they'll care for, it weighs about 40kgs. I also have a 4k screen, but aside from wallmounting that, I fail to see how one can really secure that.

But I have quite the collection of consoles and games that I really don't want to lose. These being very small will take them seconds to nab. I need to make this less attractive. Is there some sort of cabinet or safe I can buy that locks but also has ventilations? That way I can stick everything in there, and just run the cables to my screen.

Any other advice is also welcome. Thanks.
Feeling PTSD from when I was really young and they stole my Gamecube bro. I had just gotten it for christmas too! FML

Protect yourself adequately with physical security in your sleeping area and have insurance for the rest.
If they want it, they will get it, regardless of the measures you take.

I do have a safety gate inside the main house as well, dividing the house in two. But if they come in from the front, as they tried to today. They can access all my main stuff. Idk I do have insurance but I wanna make it unattractive for them. There are some things I care about like my save data from some of these games have over 200 hours in like FFX
Insurance?
I do have this, but I don't know. Maybe I'm paranoid now. I just want to make it more difficult. If they can get in for 5 minutes I want to minimize the amount of things they deem worthy of stealing yea?

Do you have armed response linked to your burglar alarm?
Is their response time 5 minutes?
I'm just trying to understand the time frame that you're referencing

Bottom line
There is zero way of preventing them from entering
Ever
There is only time, time for you to realize what is happening and get to safety, and that's what you need to concentrate on. Alarms, sensors, more security gates etc. Even a dog or a Goose (and those ****ers are waaaaaaaay better guard dogs than dogs)

The rest is just stuff
Stuff is replaceable

As @Creag mentioned, Insurance

Ahhhhh i just read the bottom line of your original post @InternetSwag
Yes
Some people have built massive coffee tables and put in a drawer underneath but kinda concealed so that no one would notice it when walking in, lemme go find that Youtube video now I saw a month ago of someone doing exactly that with a full blown computer hidden away

So if you wanna hide your consoles etc this is the safest way I reckon without taking out insurance etc. @WAslayer is a carpenter and showed this to me once. I was totally surprised when we opened the drawer to reveal everything. Including his fleshlight. But that's a topic for another thread.

220V will do nothing on its own, you need to add about 150A to the current to do anything of significance

Bypass the main breaker and earth leakage and it'll do the trick :whistling:

@OP you can get one of these from scoop

Cloud backup for console saves.
Onedrive for files on your PC like photos.

In my breakins, it seems that crims are mostly midgets so storing your stuff at around 2.5m and out of sight is a sure fire way to protect is.
They also have a moral fear of books. You can have R1000 in notes in your book case, and it will be fine. They will find your hafljack of brandy that is underneath your bed though.

No, when someone wants to steal something they will plan accordingly. In my opinion, visibility is the best security, meaning that when you put up CCTV don’t go at lengths to hide it. Security needs to be a deterrent. In a sense the more barriers the better, but it needs to be practical and not easily accessible. Don’t put up high walls to hide behind, perpetrator use those same high walls to their advantage. Lighting, lighting, lighting… and armed response. Show that you have security in place, 'advertise' it to prospective criminals, tell them that they will be wasting their time.

Also, in my view, do get training. Not many people support this view, any more, but I believe every person should have a right to protect and arm themselves.

Just to add, the ‘crowbar’ gangs here in Cape Town hit your property at any time they wish. They get in and out as quickly as possible, and they steal anything within immediate reach. I am sure these gangs go spotting and leverage insiders because they do have a routine and are thorough with limited time.

Anyway, my view.
