Get insurance so when they steal it you get new ones. We got a new vcr every year for 9 years till we moved.

Stopping a cockroach from invading your space is almost impossible in SA.

Go stand outside your yard, look at your house and think like an anc voter, take notes, walk nearer, spot weak points, fix them, walk nearer, fix them. Sometimes the most simple idea will stop them. snake , tokolosi, crackers, etc

Nope.

Your argument is flawed.
They can't think.
They can't take notes.
They have no ideas.

Hey guys, recently had a break in attempt (they ****ing went at my safety gate with some sort of power tool I **** you not - got about halfway through - too before something must have spooked them).
Kinda gave me a wake up call.
Although my house has burglar bars and an alarm, once they're in, everything is just lying around. It will take 3 minutes to clear out my ****.

I have a few items I'd like to secure in some way if possible. Perhaps some sort of cabinet that locks but still allows for airflow?
My PC I doubt they'll care for, it weighs about 40kgs. I also have a 4k screen, but aside from wallmounting that, I fail to see how one can really secure that.

But I have quite the collection of consoles and games that I really don't want to lose. These being very small will take them seconds to nab. I need to make this less attractive. Is there some sort of cabinet or safe I can buy that locks but also has ventilations? That way I can stick everything in there, and just run the cables to my screen.

Any other advice is also welcome. Thanks.

Honestly… don't leave stuff lying around and in sight.

Even the stuff that you aren't worried about, either sell or put it in storage. All that stuff is just a magnate for burglars. If you are not currently using it then its just in the way. I was very bad with this myself and realised after a theft that every thing I valued was in plane sight, most of the things that were taken I hadn't used in ages and I was sad that I lost them but it actually just gives them a reason to break in.

Emigrate to a deserted island. Electronic gadgets are a thief's best friend!

Friend of mine glue some minora blade on top of his fence, you will only notice them after they have done their job.
He invited a policeman to his place, they showed him how easy it is to enter. bolt pc floor to the table.

House without a yard? If you do have a yard, that is what you secure and have stuff trigger security company to respond, so that the crims give up before they get into house.

This is the most important.
The alarm must trigger before they get to your house.
Also ensure they cannot lift your motor gate. This is the most common form of entrance.

Yep, they try to lift gate motor, if unable to do that, they will either bend away the toothed track so it doesn't contact the gate motor wheel or they will jump fence/wall/gate and attack the gate motor itself. If they cannot bend the track or jump over or access gate motor otherwise, they are unlikely to go further with attack.

For data, use the cloud.

For hardware, I have an engraver, UB pen and permanent marker.

So I have my name and number on my washing machine. TV, pc, tools, lawn mower, step ladder, even my cooler bag using one or more of those 3 tools.

When I use stuff for travel, like adapters and power banks, I put my name on those too.

Even had my name put on my gf’s butt.

Best option is a panic room(if you have the space and budget). Other than that just make sure you can secure your bedroom, and to protect your stuff unfortunately there isn't much you can do there.

Yup. Our gate has a bolt that it slides into so you cannot lift the gate off the rails when the gate is closed. On the other side there is a pitched roof. Hard to explain. I should take some photos. Anyways, there is zero chance lifting the gate off. Easiest way is to just drive through it

What about the toothed track of the gate motor? What about going over the gate/fence/wall and attacking the gate motor itself for manual release or pressing the open button on the motherboard?

Nah, I hear his gate doesn't work anyway, his clan park in the street and climb over the wall.
