I've been a very happy Uncapped Express+ customer for about a year now, and due to my working hours and lifestyle, I am VERY seldom at home during the period of the day that the accounts are rate-limited. There has been the odd occasion though, and generally, it's acceptable for what one can expect.

Today though, I decided to work from home and all I can say is "OMG!" These accounts are practically useless when rate-limited these days. I cannot even sign into Steam, and pinging a local server (SAIX in this case) takes about 290ms. Pinging IS servers yields good results, but it doesn't do me much good. Clearly we're not just rate limited, but we are also shunted onto some vastly inferior network or something.

Anyone else had similar experiences lately? I know for a FACT that it never used to be this bad. I've played local games of Modern Warfare 2 with excellent latency in the past when rate-limited, but now I'm sitting on one or two bars (for non-gamers, that's bad).

It recently came to light that IS had switched us from SAT3 to Seacom bandwidth (without telling us), but that should have no effect on local latency. I can only assume that the introduction of the cheaper Uncapped Basic product has really dented IS's daytime capacity.

Either way, one thing is for sure, Uncapped Express is certainly looking like it has no place in the market anymore at these prices! Yes, after-hours it is still king of the hill, but is that good enough at twice the price of other uncapped offerings? This will probably be my last month with this account.

Coulda been a fluke yesterday... Much better today, latency is good again.

During the days I get acceptable the speeds. But at nights it rules, filling up hdd space faster than I can buy new ones
