hi there

3 months ago i was given a huawei P8 as a present.

Since I started using my new phone, my cellphone bill has doubled, but my usage has not changed at all.

I buy bundles and vodacom is constantly telling me that my bundles were expired and they have billed me data charges.

So i have an enormous bill... like seriously huge... almost a third of my salary.

I call vodacom and they say i dont have a choice i need to accept the billing.

can anyone help?

You can see on the phone what apps have used the data and you can also use the Vodacom app to check how much data you have left. You can also set a data cap on the phone to prevent OOB.

Last time I checked out of bundle rates was something like R2 per MB. Not sure if its still that high but its not outside of the realm of possibility what happened to you. You'll be surprised various things can chow your data. App and OS updates aside. If you browse a lot sometimes your usage behaviour/patterns changes when you have have a faster phone. I've seen someone go through gigs of data "getting lost" on Pinterest. Based on R2 per MB a gig of data cost around R2000.

OOB is R1.00 if you had a Smart package.
