I'm wanting to start working towards the CISSP certification and I believe that the Associate of ISC2 is part of this process.

Can anyone who has achieved their CISSP shed some light on where to start and perhaps who in South Africa apart from Torque IT are able to assist?

Not much in KZN that I'm aware of, but apart from the (ISC)2 online courses, where you have choice of online instructor led courses, self-paced courses, and classrom-based courses, there is:

Mervin Pearce (SACS) who provides courses in Gauteng; and
Craig Rosewarne from Wolfpack Risk that sometimes does something similar.

The chairperson of the (ISC)2 Gauteng chapter could also possibly give you some guidance in starting a local KZN study group.

Or do what most of us in SA have done throughout the years:
1) Understand what it takes -- download the study guide at https://www.isc2.org/Certifications/CISSP;
2) Book you exam, after giving yourself enough time for study and practicals;
3) Devour all of the reading material, read and practice everything that there is to know about information security;
4) Buy some practice tests and go through them; and
5) Write the exam.

Easy-peasy :)

Thanks infscrtyrisk, I had pretty much started sourcing the study guides and downloaded a few podcasts - will get started and see how it goes!
