That was a revisionist history class you attended.

Sure the Israelis where desperate using old ww2 Italian and Czech built German fighters, but they still destroyed the Arabs in the air and ground due to better leaders, training, skill and determination...

Oh, stop it. Eff-all revisionist about it - I attended high school in the 1980's. Go do some honest research.

Oh and just to level the playing fields for the serial doubters, haters and revisionists amongst us..

"The Soviet Union had supplied Egypt and Syria over 600 advanced surface-to-air missiles, 300 MiG-21 fighters, 1,200 tanks, and hundreds of thousands of tons of war material..."

Next?!

every Arab capital from Timbucktoo to Jalalibad will be toasted to oblivion long before their dirty fingers can even see the red button to push.

If you honestly think Israel will even let them contemplate that scenario.. err think again.
Excellent! Glad to know the US doesn't have to give money to Israel like it is some hobo.

And isn't it brilliant of Israel to become part of the global community after signing the NPT and allowing the IAEA to monitor their clandestine nuclear weapons.

Slowly but surely Israel is becoming less and less of another ME shthole, good for them!

Indeed, but doesn't change the fact that the USA sent through a **** load of supplies, what's the problem with this? It was much needed and good on the USA.

Not sure how sending some terrorist to oblivion has changed into this but it is the nature of these threads to wander off a tad

Take a deep breath.

Now, I am not a hater - in the project I did over the several wars, it was a a fact that the Arab nations were supplied war materials.

I am not arguing that.

But to think Israel didn't survive without the USA's support is somewhat blinkered.

That's one of the reasons that USA is so hated by many muslims.

Actually, there was one particular attack on yon kippur, iirc correctly from a history project I did decades ago at high school, where Israel was crumbling until the USA rushed military equipment to their aid.

oh the US did provide supplies to Israel about a week after the schit started but by then Isreal was already deep into Syria & Egypt. The US did so in order to avoid Isreal going nuclear should they be pushed into a corner. I suspect history would have been very different had the US not intervened. Isreal might have no issues today had it not been for the US. Meir authorized the assembly of 10+tactical nuclear weapons at the time in case things went pear-shaped for Israel.

Thing is they were always on the defensive, everybody always attacked them and when they retaliated kicking the aggressors in the teeth they got lambasted.

I don't like the israelis as they are not without guilt but I dislike their neighbours even more. There will never be peace in that region ever. Hypothetically speaking if you could disarm Israel tomorrow the arab states would massacre all the jews without blinking and the rest of the world will just shrug.

You have a very different understanding.

And exactly which nation since the dawn of time can claim to have always acted in good faith, shown restraint in the most dire of existential threats and without a shred of blood on their hands????

I'd say Israel more than most can definitely claim that. Not so many so called Western democracies and not a single Arab/Muslim state.

yes well back on topic, hopefully, this albeit very shaky cease-fire does hold for the time being and continues into December - both sides rely on the tourist trade and as yours truly will be there on a visit they can play nice for a couple of weeks.

Oh dear Lord preserve us
Syrian tanks were ready to cut Israel in half
PLEASE read -- "VALE OF TEARS"
ONE brave Israeli save the country
It was at this point that APPARENTLY the nuclear option was mooted

The Tom Clancy book -- "SUM OF ALL FEARS" is based on this -- got an SA spin to the story as well !

I can provide reams and reams of information -- BUT -- WHY no-one reads it ..........

Meh, they did it all on their own when they were attacked by the militaries of a few countries before giving them a proper hiding. They don't need the help of any other military.
