Hey Guys

I just need help deciding on which ISP to adopt after my foolish trip into CyberSmart.

From what I have seen I think these 3 appear to be the best options.

Which would be the preferred option to go to?

A few things to note :

1) My budget is R700 excl Telkom phoneline rental.
2) Streaming is important to my needs. Twitch quite so.
3) Capped Accounts can work but the line is a family one so usage isn't always in my direct control.
4) Usage times vary a lot so a good day-time experience is important.

Thanks guys

I have a capped WA account and am very happy with it. To that I have added the VOX bolt on uncapped which works 18:00 to 06:00 and over weekends. This gives me uncapped after hours.

Due to my usage I now hardly use the Vox account but when I did it worked just great and gave me the best of both worlds at a very cheap price

What has your average usage been over the last 3 months and what speed is your line?

Reason I ask is because Connection has a 4mbps account for R199 per month and in my experience it runs almost as well as WA uncapped. They are both on IS, both have a star rating system so you can see when you are about to be shaped and both let you rape the line from 12 till 6 at night and it doesn't affect your start rating.

We have a 4Mbps line and are averaging around 170GB p/m

They are all good, but I would recommend staying away from home uncapped accounts with that usage (unless the majority of your usage is between midnight and morning.

Just one thing, I know a few people who are with Cybersmart and have phoned in several times and complained about slow speeds. After a few phone calls, they got moved to a "new realm" and their speed issues vanished. I personally tested out my one friends home uncapped account after he had it moved to a new realm and it was actually an excellent account! It may just be worth a try ;)

What's your line speed?

I'd suggest:

That exact scenario happened with me but I still had issues thereafter; thus facilitating the move.

I used to be on Vox and for a while we had even greater usage back then and we never had any issues.

He already stated his budget, line speed, and usage.

There is 0 reason to go capped.

Just trying to save some money and think 170GB is a bit low for the cost of business uncapped, esp if you can move some data during the overnight window.

I have a 2Mbps IC Uncapped line and ran between 60-80Gb per month (mostly evening series watching - no real torrents and always scheduled from 23:00-6). We now get throttled during the day that home mail and chat becomes totally unusable. Moved to VOX now to see how their system will degrade after a few months of usage.

webafrica lost all my emails from 15h50 until this morning and there have been many times when my website could not be accessed. When I asked them why the site was down, the said they did not detect a problem.
