Hi Guys,

I see there are quite a few people on here that had/have issues with getting routers setup correctly for iBurst but none of the threads seemed to provide answers to my questions.

So here it goes...

My setup is as follows:
* Got a ZyXEL P660HW-T1 router (it has an ADSL modem built in).
* Desktop iBurst Modem connected to one of the ethernet ports.
* 2 desktop PC's connected to the ethernet ports
* would also like to connect a notebook (that has Wi-Fi built in).

I'm trying to find out whether i can even share my iBurst connection using this router??

I know you can use Internet Connection Sharing in windows, etc. but that isn't ideal as i don't want my web connection to be dependent on any one PC. I want to be able to just connect to the router and access the web from there.

Now on the router, I've gone through the 1001 settings and setup the LAN. But as for the WAN side of things, it doesn't seem to work - router doesn't seem to invoke the connection. So now I'm struggling to get the router to invoke the connection (as opposed to having to invoke the connection using iBurst dashboard on one of my PCs). Is it possible that the WAN settings on the router are are essentially only configuring settings for the WAN (dsl) port of the router (and the modem is connected to normal ethernet port)?

Anyone have any ideas? I could obviously buy another router but would like to first determine whether i can even achieve my desired setup using the ZyXEL router.

Please help!!!

Not all routers are compatible with iBurst, although it makes use of PPPoE… Try Netgear WPN824 v2 or WGT624 v3 it works well - some of the Netgear VPN routers does not work with iBurst.

For those of you that may be interested or had a similar problem, the answer to above question is simply, "No". Because it's a ADSL router, you would need to plug your phone cable into the WAN port.

To be able to share your iBurst connection over your wireless LAN, you need a router that has an ethernet WAN port (WAN port in which you could plug in a normal LAN network cable). Here's an example of one.

Best would be get a Linksys WRT54GL. If your still looking.

yeah...i had to exchange the ZyXEL P660HW-T1 which i originally bought. so i kinda had to get the ZyXEL P-320W in the end (as they don't stock Netgear/Linksys, etc.). :o

Everything is up and running and the P-320W seems pretty decent from my experience up to now. The only issue i've had is that there doesn't seem to be a setting in the web configurator that allows you to specify the MTU. Seems to be the case with most ZyXEL routers.

I've searched the web to see if anyone knew how/where to set the MTU on P-320W but no luck.:(
