Roles and Responsibilities
• Responsible for advising appropriate and cost effective IT solutions that meet business objectives.
• Interact and operate with company management.
• Oversee the implementation of approved IT solutions/projects from initial justification, selection of hardware and software, planning, implementation and user sign-off and post implementation.
• On-going support and maintenance of installed IT solutions.
• Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Reporting.
• Develop and maintain IT policies, systems and incident in line with industry best practice framework like Cobit 5.
• Develop and maintain IT policies in respect of physical security and protection against corruption, loss of data, and theft of data backing viruses.
• Data confidentiality, integrity and availability.
• Manage and review SLA agreements and controls with service providers.
• Monitor service providers against KPIs.
• Oversee systems development and management as well as systems architecture through outsourced providers.
• Work with outsourced IT partner to accomplish goals.
• Ensure hardware refresh policy is optimized.
• Cost Reduction: Constantly monitor new technologies in order to provide a better service at a lower cost.
• Manage IT staff by communicating job expectations, planning and monitoring, appraising job results, coaching and discipline.
• Manage IT budget and accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements.
• Keep staff up to date.
• Internal and external vendor relationship management.
• Advise on industry best practices.
• Consider needs of each department and ensure that appropriate use of Technology Solutions are being applied.
• Ensure Business Continuity and maintain service quality and availability.
Qualifications and Experience
• IT Degree or relevant tertiary IT Qualification. (Computer Science Degree)
• COMPTIA A+, MCSE (Systems Engineer), MCSE: Server and Desktop Infrastructure.
• Advantageous: MCITP; MCSE: Data Platform, MCTS,MCPD
• At least 5 years’ experience in an IT Management role.
• Hands on WAN/LAN troubleshooting experience.
• Active Directory Experience.
• Microsoft Exchange Experience.
• Intimate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Server and Desktop Operating System Products.
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN experience required.
• Standard experience with network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls etc.
Personal Attributes
• Sound organizational skills.
• Strong leadership and decision making skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• IT Skills combined with a good head for business.
• Ability to explain complex systems to relevant parties in simple terms.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and within time and budget constraints.
