You guys are obviously well rewarded. Hook a brother up with a well paying job.

Hold on man. I put an /s because I myself don't know if it's too high or too low.
Ssshhhh, let's see if they'll tell us. :sneaky:

Though I'm thinking it's underpaid for a solutions architect. You're talking about someone designing the technological foundation and future for the company/solution/product. 965k is maybe a decent (not exceptional) senior developer's salary. Now let's see what the others say.

One thing this article does highlight is how fubar'd our currency is. :(

This is so inaccurate, its hilarious. Not to mention its an utterly pointless comparison.

Yeah, their numbers look a bit low, on both sides. You can get double the amounts in the UK, and probably more in Germany...

Are you saying that's low or high? I mean... it's not average but certainly within the norms.
His post could also be interpreted as him being a Senior Solutions Architect and getting paid less than that.

In which case his response is quite appropriate.

That salary equates to R80k pm which is in the senior developer range. A senior solutions architect (like a real one) will be far North of that.
Yeah that's fair - depending on the company of course. The fact that you specified a real one means you've seen the other type :D R80k pm is very good depending on where you're situated as well. I can tell you that for the most part, if you ask an East London based company for R80k a month, you're SOL.

edited to add: *unless you have some other intrinsic value that you bring. Most companies don't know why they need a Solutions Architect so often just get someone who put it on their CV

This is one of those cases where the big mac index is actually relevant. Trying to feed yourself in London (and the rest of the UK) is expensive. A trip to Tesco will do a good job of emptying the wallet.

MyBroadband seems to publish such articles every once in a while. I do think these articles are misleading; a higher pay cheque in another nation doesn't mean you are actually earning more coin. For the next fake news immigration article, it would be nice if MyBB writers went a little deeper - tell people what the average rental prices are, how much groceries are, fuel, transportation.

From the few websites I have seen, it looks like salaries are higher abroad, but, these are accompanied with a much higher cost of living (higher rent, higher groceries, higher transportation costs, etc.)
