IT Salaries: South Africa’s cities compared

I find it interesting that Systems Developers get R367K in PTA but only R299K in JHB.
The same goes for Administration where PTA pays R344K vs JHB's R216K
Those are massive discrepancies considering that JHB is the IT hub - not PTA.

Cape town has plently high paying jobs just need to find right industry

I also noticed this. Keep in mind though that the developers in Pretoria have a strong focus on non-financial systems while Johannesburg is more geared towards finance. I suspect that salaries may be more on par with what engineers earn, due to this fact.

So I see "South Africa's cities" is made up of 3 cities in 2 provinces? Nice one....doesn't really work well for comparitive purposes when your sample includes only a small percentage of the country.

This is sad. How do you live on R4k a month? There is something terribly wrong about your situation. Even interns earn more than that.

You don't live, you survive barely.

There are a lot of people in IT who earn less than R4K per month. Heck, our maid is getting R4K from next month and she will earn more than 2 friends of mine who are in IT and both are very competent people.
