That recent mass shooting in the US was stopped by someone carrying a gun who didn't need a permit or mandated training because the state has constitutional carry. The guy was taught by his grandfather and saved many lives that day.

But yeah much better for us in SA to stay easy victims and let 15 robbers shoot illegal police/military rifles randomly in malls with zero opposition.
Well, you know the tossers and tossettes at GFSA would disagree...

All those people asking why did no-one help....
Probably because the law is skewed in the criminals favour....

Unless you are armed, have some training and are quite prepared for a legal ball ache and a chance of dying...

Crime will only get worse here...be it this type of crime or the endless lines of nyope boys looking to steal what they can...I saw two on my cameras yesterday gapping it across the veld with....a stolen wheelchair.....

This is the South Africa the cANCer has bestowed upon us...Squirrel and all his comrades....
But I blame the voters.
Not a fight I'd pick.

Where do these AK-47's come from. How old are they now? Where does the ammo come from?
Border war?
More likely from that container where they stole guns and 1.5 million rounds of ammo in the July riots last year.

The AK-47 uses a standard round so it's easy to come by.

Indeed.

I own firearms for sport, hunting and also to protect my life and my family's.

Other people are all entitled to do the same under our current laws, if they choose not to, well that is a pity, but it is on them.

Even if you lawfully shoot someone in defence of a life/lives you could end up in very costly legal battles and then there is the trauma that goes with it all as well - I will only go there for myself or my family.

The best thing to do in any gunfight is still - do not be there.

Must be inside job, why would a gang target a random shop in the mall? Must have been said on that day X amount of money will be available to steal.

Firstly, this goes to show how dangerous South Africa is becoming. This is not an isolated incident, this is actually the norm. People only read and know what the media is reporting. The rest of the daily incidents remains unreported and unknown. And, things are only getting worse by the day, irrelevant what police 'statistics' say.

Secondly, time the government realize gun control has failed. Allow everyone to arm themselves, without the need of paperwork and money. This is needed in the current warzone the country is gripped in.
Well i'm sure these attackers are on the same side as you.

They do often have this kind of intel.

Its not hard to do this though. Generally stores have a schedule for cash pickups. Then you just watch the store for a few weeks and look at the pattern. Then over month end you might see that the deposits are going to be much higher.

We're getting pretty close. In retrospect we could be just another African country gone to shyte. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Many people are still in denial and strongly think we are not moving in the direction of Zimbabwe. But people seem to turn a blind eye when black people do something wrong and black people are too scared to stand up against other black people. Bunch of useless twats that's why Africa is Africa.

There was NO 7.62x39 ammo in that container. And no firearms. All just civilian ammo.
No, AK ammo isn't to come by. It fetches high prices on the black market. Is usually smuggled in from Moz or Angola. It can't be had from SAPS or the military. Not sure how much is still available from arms caches.
I think that's why the crims prefer the R4/R5 when they can get them.
Ammo can be had from corrupt police or military.

I didn't say the SAPS nor our useless armed forces used the AK.

Did they confirm there was no container of AK-47s and ammo?

PMP manufactured millions of 7.62x39 rounds at some stage (of course not for our SAPS and SANDF), a lot was exported but I would be surprised if at least some did not end up in local hands.

Not sure if they still manufacture these currently.

The media say there were two containers of AK-47s that went missing.
Event number two was all about the guns: two containers of AK-47-type rifles not destined for South Africa went missing during the chaos that ensued at the Durban harbour when Transnet suffered a cyberattack, sources say. A source with ties to state intelligence explained that the rifles utilised 7.62mm rounds similar to those used in the Russian AK-47 and its Chinese knock-off, the Type-56. Those guns are yet to be found, but, said an intelligence specialist with ties to the public and private security sector who also confirmed the theft, “I’m telling you: those guns are in KZN.”

Cool, I did read that which was why I mentioned it. Seemed like the OP had the inside scoop on it being proven there were no AKs in the one container. No reply yet on my question on whether or not it was confirmed there were none.
