Ai... Italy has been in the news lately for other dumb **** as well... The world truly is dumbing down.

Even in the absolutely remote case that this is even possibly true, I would prefer the tumour to living in a world where people jump onto a fear mongering band wagon of idiotic claims of ill health and devils' spawned evils...

I think we need the stats for those who favour these rulings as well. I think the courts might be behind the tumours to help them make more money.

Rather premature to conclude anything about legal consequences. This will work its way through the appeals and review process.

The vagaries of the Italian legal system means that lower courts frequently make findings that are controversial so that a point of law can be clarified by a higher court on appeal.

Agreed, expecially in Italy some high up judge will reverse the ruling and retire.

No need to retire. This way of proceeding is pretty standard in Continental legal systems derived from the Code Napoleon, ie codified as opposed to common law systems.

The lower court presumably required only a single doctor's opinion, and was not further argued since the main matter before it was the right to a pension, a separate legal point.

Higher courts have more resources and standing in order to more thoroughly investigate and hear matters. It is there that the details on this particular point will be argued using experts from all sides.

Read: money start flowing from the industry to assist appointment of the right investigators and experts. Higher courts, more money is involved...

What is ignorant about it? The fact that he doesn't believe in bull**** or would rather prefer a tumour than be a complete sheep?
