Why do you say its not a variation then?
And also, let's be honest, anybody falling for the spin that the kids were saluting in a Roman fashion is either in absolute denial or a complete idiot. When last have you seen kids trying to emulate ancient Romans?

Mind listing those facts that determine it isn't a variation of the Roman Salute then if you please. I am happy to be wrong, but I would like something more than "No you're wrong" as a starting point, when the Nazi Salute was criticised in its early days for its resemblance to the Roman Salute in use in Italy...

Google it - it's really not that hard

You obviously weren't into war games as a kid  The latest Hardcore History addendum goes into detail about simulating Roman battles.

But yeah bs they were doing the Roman salute. Those kids are gonna get in big trouble for that.

And yea - I'm sure your comeback will be the much esteemed Wikipedia entry, and my retort to that would be...

It's Wikipedia

From your OWN link :
There are no extant historical descriptions of anything relating to a formal salute. The Nazis appropriated this gesture, just like they appropriated eagles and Swastikas because Nazism is an intellectually bankrupt ideology with next to no originality or innovativeness of it's own.

Therefore even that page agrees its a variation of the salute (or gesture if you disagree with the idea of Romans having a salute)

War games as a kid? :D Can't really say that I was. And even if i was, I wouldn't want to emulate the Romans - the Mongols were way better at raping the world

Now it's just semantics - that's quite a low. You see ANY resemblance between the Roman 'gesture' and the Nazi salute? You see a direct comparison between the salute those teens are adopting to the Roman gesture?

Would you say those teens 'gestures' compare more accurately to the Nazi Salute (which is an actual thing) or to the pictured roman gesture in the earlier link?
Would you make the mistake of misinterpreting those teens arm actions?

Yet your earlier reply was this...

 Strange

There's a massive difference even if you believe the Romans adopted some sort of salute. Differences on quite a few levels in fact

These poor kids are going to be scarred by these vicious attacks against them. Luckily they are just kids so we don't need to be concerned for their well-being, right?

Ok dude...

They're rabid right wing nazi's and should be dragged onto the street and shot.
A bit extreme - but sure...if that works for you.
I was just going for seeing things as they are and an end to the contradictions
