Slow news day. Breaking news? No problem, we fix it ...?

The woke Azarrah Karrim was not happy with the previous article, had to regurgitate and republish it. In fact it digs up facts mentioned here.

https://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/...-is-no-such-things-as-a-roman-salute-20190810

Somerset West Private School threw fuel on the flames when they referred to a picture of their students doing a Nazi salute as a "Roman salute".

She then goes on to dispute the Roman salute ever existed (historians have some dispute over this). In her wokeness she attempts to give a lesson on history. Then drag up previous usages of the Nazi salute.

The irony here, is that most people who grew up with Asterix would be sure the Roman salute does exist - remember, they're not historians. Even News24 journalists Jenna Etheridge and Ethan van Diemen did not know this. Nor peer Thabiso Goba from IOL.

As for the kids - not sure what they REALLY believed, but realistically they are most definitely historians. How the heck could a minor* know it? But it seems Azarrah Karrim is not happy. Let's throw some more fuel on the flames. Wtf does she expect.

*
Note: The faces of the pupils have been obscured because News24 abides by the SA press code, which states that in the spirit of the Bill of Rights, minors (aged 18 and under) cannot be identified without the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

Sometime I wonder at the role the news media plays at fueling crap. Regardless if the kids believed it to be a Roman salute or not, it's now a Nazi salute because the media said so (intentions and knowledge aside, all about feels). The SAJBD is on it. Regardless of what was the intentions, Roman or Nazi, already some made up their mind. At least the SAJBD will not do long term harm. But what is Azarrah Karrim's motive?

And the problem is? Oh, people getting offended by a salute. Filthy whining leftists will always find something to complain about.

A wave requires side to side motion according to a dictionary, without motion it's a salute. It's a still image so it could be either, someone care to find the video footage?
Why on earth would you do that.
What has the truth got to do with anything these days.
The truth is what SJW's say it is.

Are you really defending this bad faith post? As though anyone with half a brain cant see the difference between him waving to the crowd and this

What twaddle. A salute is a formal gesture of respect to an authority, it has nothing to do with motion or not. A modern military salute is the motion of putting a straight hand to your forehead. Many celebrities wave to their fans by raising their hand up, that doesn't make it a salute. Talk about reaching  (no ponder, reaching for something on a shelf above you is not a salute either...)

We're not talking about a modern military salute. Salutes are not limited to the military or authority figures.

What your celebrity example is is a salute whether you like it or not, "a gesture of respect or polite recognition, especially one made to or by a person when arriving or departing.", that's from the oxford dictionary btw.

I salute you for trying but you're not going to magically change the definition of the word or confine it to a narrow sector of use or claim that it's the same as a wave.
