Slow news day. Breaking news? No problem, we fix it ...?
The woke Azarrah Karrim was not happy with the previous article, had to regurgitate and republish it. In fact it digs up facts mentioned here.

She then goes on to dispute the Roman salute ever existed (historians have some dispute over this). In her wokeness she attempts to give a lesson on history. Then drag up previous usages of the Nazi salute.
The irony here, is that most people who grew up with Asterix would be sure the Roman salute does exist - remember, they're not historians. Even News24 journalists Jenna Etheridge and Ethan van Diemen did not know this. Nor peer Thabiso Goba from IOL.
As for the kids - not sure what they REALLY believed, but realistically they are most definitely historians. How the heck could a minor* know it? But it seems Azarrah Karrim is not happy. Let's throw some more fuel on the flames. Wtf does she expect.

Sometime I wonder at the role the news media plays at fueling crap. Regardless if the kids believed it to be a Roman salute or not, it's now a Nazi salute because the media said so (intentions and knowledge aside, all about feels). The SAJBD is on it. Regardless of what was the intentions, Roman or Nazi, already some made up their mind. At least the SAJBD will not do long term harm. But what is Azarrah Karrim's motive?

Somerset West Private School threw fuel on the flames when they referred to a picture of their students doing a Nazi salute as a "Roman salute".

Note: The faces of the pupils have been obscured because News24 abides by the SA press code, which states that in the spirit of the Bill of Rights, minors (aged 18 and under) cannot be identified without the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
