It's just a Roman salute, says school in 'Nazi' matric photograph furore

The school is going to take action to protect their reputation and they suffered a huge PR shitstorm after this incident. If the kids don't get some kind of disciplinary action I'll be surprised.
It's possible they'll escape punishment given that the photo was published by a teacher, or there will be some token punishment. I could be wrong.

The Nazi salute is squarely based on the Roman salute.

Hint - that's not a Nazi saluting.
You can't write off Wikipedia without writing off the citations in it. The article is full of facts and includes cited sources.
Is it illegal in South Africa to extend your arm at 30/60-degrees with a flat downward-facing palm?

But the kids were not wrong. The school was wrong for posting the foto on their front page. That shcool can do jack ssh!t

Also, going through the guy on twitter who posted the foto's profile you will see he is a true snowflake. Pages of him just complaining about stuff.

Yeah all that stuff you just said means diddly squat in the real world. Anyway we'll see what they do, but I am betting they take some action against the jackass kids who thought it would be well clever to troll their graduation photos.

I had to read - yeah, I got bored after his 300th tweet complaint about new balance :eek:

Funny enough I was listening to the interview with this guy on History on Fire the other day after binging on the Back Catalogue of Hardcore history, somebody "leaked" all the paid episodes on the Google Podcast app.

Anyway the guy from the History Of Rome podcast made it seem like his podcast was on the dry side
It is rather dry, especially around episodes 25-40. Regardless, it offers a fascinating look into the trials and tribulations of the Roman Empire, and how significant their influences are today still.

Not that I'm aware of, but people will be offended. I don't give a rats about the whole thing personally. I do hope that these kids learn something from it.
When my kid was at school, he dressed up like a boer soldier and did a comedy skit in English with an Afrikaans accent. No doubt there would be plenty of people who could find it offensive. That doesn't mean he was intending to offend.

Who is being offended? Whether it be a Nazi or Roman salute, as far as I can tell nobody asked a Jew, a Spaniard, a Frenchman or an Italian whether the photo offends them.

Nah, I kinda think that school has no leg to stand on. They need to take it on the chin, publicly apologize for their lack of diligence and move on.
The kids cant be punished in school since they are not there anymore. And I can not think how the school can legally take any action since they are the ones who uploaded the photo.

And lastly, the Twitter snowflake needs grow up. He is the Tech lead at Superbalist. I would never work for a guy that just uses Twitter as a complaint page to boost his own ego.

Kids do stupid s**te in photos all the time, would be interested to know WTF the adult who approved this for the main page of the school website was thinking...

It's all fun and games until one smirks at an old man. Then the whole world loses its schit.

And also, let's be honest, anybody falling for the spin that the kids were saluting in a Roman fashion is either in absolute denial or a complete idiot. When last have you seen kids trying to emulate ancient Romans?

I'm sure I've done it as a kid.
