WP coach, Allister Coetzee, defended WP captain, Luke Watson, at a press conference today, saying "we're going to Loftus as a team. It's not Luke vs the Bulls or Luke vs Loftus!". This comes after Luke Watson was booed during a Super14 game earlier this year against the Bulls at Loftus.

Ja Fluke Wartson. Jy wil mos nie in 'n Springbok trui speel nie, nou moet jy ma settle vir 'n WP een. Shame.

I can't believe he hasn't been given even more of a hard time by the crowds. And I also cannot believe the WP crowds actually cheer him. This pretty much tells me that they respect the Springbok jersey as much as he does....

Maybe they are the only few that actually read the transcript of his speech?

And understood it of course. ;)

There is a lot of blah blah blah my dad is great blah blah blah but I think this part is what stood out in most people's minds :

the culture of hope for generations to come, we need to see the bigger picture and realise that the here and now is not just the here and now, but the here and now only exists of those who went before us and because of those who are still to come, there is a bigger picture, whether you like it or not - me having to wear the Springbok jersey, to keep myself from vomiting on it, because there is a bigger picture, because men and women have bled for me to get there - did I ever want to be there? No, it’s never been my dream, but I chose this burden with the greatest of pride and satisfaction, knowing that my father Cheeky Watson laid down his life to get me there, knowing that Zola Yeye laid down his life, Archie Mkele, legends from the Eastern Cape where I grew up, known as my uncles and my fathers,

The two faced attitude. If you really did not want to be there then tell them you are not available for selection! Of course he then goes on to make the excuse that his dad said he must, for him. <Cue violins - ahhh sweet>

Please man! He is an ass! He whinges that he sat alone at breakfast in the Springbok camp and that even the coached walked past him without greeting him. Of course this was only because they all objected to his political views, not because he is a bloody ass! Wonder why the black players did not sit with him?

At least it will mean another 10 000 Bulls supporters will go to Loftus on Saturday!

I wonder if the Bulls management will pay him an appearance fee?

Playing Luke at Loftus is clever: he keeps six or seven Bulls occupied as the try to find a way to donner him. Then, the remaining 14 only have to play against 9 Bulls. I am no fan of Mr Watson, being a DM and all, but I do fear that if we play the man and not the game, we may come short. I still hope Gerhard klaps him again, like he did last time. That said, I do believe the time is ripe to let go of the Watson saga...

I seriously dislike him but really losing to the WP and then being able to say:"I hit luke when no one was looking" is pathetic. So I hope the bulls keep their focus on the game.

Goooo Bulls.

(Ps if someone was to land with their knee on his crotch be accident I would not mind to much.)

The thing is that the Bulls could beat WP with 9 players, if their past performance is anything to go by. So that leaves more than enough snot klapping for Luke.

Its a historical thing that the kaapies backed the AB's when they played the whites only springboks.

That they still do so now is probably because many of them still don't see any difference...all a matter of perspective isn't it....and many of them will agree with the below.

the culture of hope for generations to come, we need to see the bigger picture and realise that the here and now is not just the here and now, but the here and now only exists of those who went before us and because of those who are still to come, there is a bigger picture, whether you like it or not - me having to wear the Springbok jersey, to keep myself from vomiting on it, because there is a bigger picture, because men and women have bled for me to get there - did I ever want to be there? I have been away too long to have a view of current situation (and shouldn't care really) but from what I see and get told, there is still far too much politics involved.

cheers

I'm sorry I'm not big on these 'just get over it types". Why should my/our view of him change just because some time has passed? He has not apologised, he has not shown that he feels any different so why should my view of him change.

He is an ass. If he gets the ball I will boo him. The same way I'll shout "Beeeaaassstttt" when he gets the ball.
