iTunes broken for XP users

Since yesterday I am unable to purchase apps or complete pending downloads. It started from iTunes error (-50). I followed suggestion from Apple Web site to delete temporary files and now receiving message: "An unknown error occured (error 0x80090326)".

I signed out from my account and now I am unable to sign again - the same error. Because of this, I cannot backup, update or sync anything.

Searching WEB gives indication Apple has changed protocol for secure connection that affects all XP users. If you are XP user, please report here.

Searching Microsoft site for this error gives indication that it has something to do with backend certificate problem on the server.

Anyone still using XP should seriously consider doing something about it. Especially if that machine is connected to the internet.

The machine in question has 768MB RAM, so nothing can be done. I am using iTunes on separate machine (exclusively for iTunes), as in the past it screwed up perfomance of my main computer, had to reformat hard drive.

The problem is Microsoft is no longer supporting XP at all, so you're just going to run into more and more issues down the road.

iTunes is about as friendly (and useful) as a swift kick in the head with a steel toed boot.

Of course something can be done. Upgrade the RAM and install Windows 7 or 8.

Time to get up to date. You dont expect them to support a unsupported OS forever do you?

Microsoft doesn't even support XP anymore, can't really expect Apple to support it.

can't really expect Apple to support it.
Then they should update their website -->
Windows System Requirements
PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 3 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
Google is supporting Chome on XP till the end of the year.

Sucks. What sucks even more is the crew of smart-asses going on about how XP is a lame duck.

The problem is iTunes. I will not allow it within 15 Cape Feet of my systems - it's the most imperialistic piece of software ever conceived.

Sorry, can't help.

My sympathies.

Anyone else used XP recently? You don't really appreciate how the UX has evolved until you go backwards. It felt like I was using Windows for Workgroups after using Windows 95/98.

Hehe. Windows for Workgroups. Showing your age there, Fudzy. Late 1992, if I remember right.

I found and ran an old XP VM the other day. Nearly jumped out of my skin with the start-up tune. But the muscle memory was still there.

Who knows maybe you can with Windows 7 licence. :) Then it is straight and legal upgrade to Windows 10 (which scales better).

As for Apple, they advertise iTunes compatibilty with Windows XP and suddenly make their software completely useless without warning. If it is intentional, it constitutes bad business practice. I feel sorry for using Apple in the first place.
