I used to get most of music from pirating, recently bought a couple songs off iTunes US but where like R13 each.
I see SA store they are a lot cheaper.

Who buys and who pirates?

I buy most of my music from iTunes. iTunes Match + torrent for the remainder

Don't forget about Spotify and Nokia music.

There really are so many ways to get legitimate music these days.

I have been using Nokia OVI for a long time. I also used 7Digital before they blocked SA accounts. I now use iTunes and NokiaOVI and - if not available anywhere else - some less than acceptable sources.

Nokia Music and US Xbox Music are insanely impressive. Massive catalogues at 256kb/s streaming and all the latest and greatest stuff. Its actually easier than torrenting. Good on 'em.

For the streaming quality the yearly subscriptions are worth it.

Today so far have spent around R50 on iTunes music, can be very addictive, only buying songs I listen to on a daily basis so far.

If I could convert my entire physical collection of music, I would. I buy exclusively from iTunes - often via SoundHound when I hear a catchy tune I want. More and more I'm buying from the ZA store and not the US one due to the savings. Luckily I don't sync devices so running dual accounts is a non issue.

Using iTunes match to upgrade all my music to 256 kbps aac. Most albums has a "mastered for iTunes" and because aac is a newer format. There is also a slight storage gain from 320 kbps mp3.
