I've just seen an article on ITWeb where an industry association is warning that the entire ADSL ip address range has been blocked by international anti-spam servers. See (http://www.itweb.co.za/sections/internet/2004/0402091211.asp?O=FPL).
Some Telkom spokesman says that if you are using a "legitimate" ISP and "legitimate" mail account you should not have any problems.
But not too long ago, I tried to send a mail to one of my clients (ADSL + Outlook Express + WorldOnline).
The mail did not go through, but bounced back with this message:
554 Service unavailable; [196.25.240.73] blocked using
bl.spamcop.net,
> > reason: Blocked - see http://www.spamcop.net/bl.shtml?196.25.240.73
So I ran nslookup of that IP address. No prizes for guessing that the IP address was linked to ctb-mesg1.saix.net. In other words, looks like "legitimate" mail can also be bounced by the blacklisting servers.
Anyone else had similar problems?
