So, now, important question, can he be forced to the Zondo Commision and questioned?

Oh I make no judgement calls on the stupidity of the choice with that post/thought experiment... just whether its legally possible or not.

Personally it would be a fscking tragedy if that even vaguely looked like it was going to happen.

Voting in anyone with ''Zuma'' in their name is problematic not just him we shall not mention by name hence forth.

However thinking about it I actually hang my head in shame that RSA sent a former president to prison.

If he just did his job (and not steal) then you would not have to hang your head in shame. Easy.

This is really good and really bad. It's good for justice, bad for the country. This move will restore some "confidence" in the ANC and it just happened to be local election year again :cautious:

Yes.

He was entirely in contempt of the court order to hand himself over by Wednesday. So he can theoretically be charged for that as well, and its a given it will be used against him in his recession application.
Parole hearing as well. He might be a flight risk, Would gladly setup a gofundme to send him to the north pole.....or the most remote island in the world.

Nope, if you are sentenced more then a year in prison you can't sit in Parliament or become president as per our constitution. Which is finally worth something now that he has finally gotten his orange turtle outfit.

Branching on this, does zuma still get to retain all his post-president perks (bodyguards, paid flights, etc) or does the jail sentence effectively remove all benefits forever?

He should still stand trial for all the accusations made against him in the Zondo commission. The fact he didn't bother to go there is why he finds himself in prison now. He knows if any of the allegations actually make it to a proper court he wouldn't be coming out ever again.

We're headed to double jeopardy now. He'd already been found guilty of, and sentenced for not appearing in front of the ZC
Yes it is applicable in criminal law, and labour laws there are exceptions of course this may include not appearing before ZC.As you can be found guilty of contempt of court again regardless, like drunk driving, or robbery of the same store ect.
