Branching on this, does zuma still get to retain all his post-president perks (bodyguards, paid flights, etc) or does the jail sentence effectively remove all benefits forever?
Yes he does, in fact he is still entitled to it while incarcerated, but this will fall away from SAPS VIP unit and on to Correctional Services for his personal protection.

Sadly yes. People seem to have forgotten there were 11th hour neg to get him out of office as well, pretty sure there were neg happening this past week as well behind the scenes think there was a IOL article about it which mentions he retains all of it.

Voting in anyone with ''Zuma'' in their name is problematic not just him we shall not mention by name hence forth.

However thinking about it I actually hang my head in shame that RSA sent a former president to prison.
He is going to college for a second time.

ANC votas: hold my zamalek!

IDK it doesn't compute, really don't know how they keep on voting anc and expect a different result. The rot has taken hold it wouldn't be any different with any other party in power.I wouldn't mind if they got someone new and fresh not attached to the current anc or inner circle.

Would much rather have squirrel again, regardless of being spineless, he has reasonable business sense and common sense and not attached to our overlords in dubai. I hope so at least.

The High Court was asked for an order interdicting the police from arresting Zuma pending recission application, but since then Zuma has "handed himself over" meaning that the police did not really arrest him. Legal people use the word "moot" for this kind of situation. So High Court doesn't have to decide anything tomorrow.

Yes.

He was entirely in contempt of the court order to hand himself over by Wednesday. So he can theoretically be charged for that as well, and its a given it will be used against him in his recession application.
Sunday.

On paper, he's been a fugitive since Sunday. Whether he handed himself over or not after Sunday won't make a difference to his case, because the police were ordered to arrest him if he didn't come quietly.

Only on conviction of a serious crime.

According to the ministerial handbook, incarceration for more than a year bars you from holding office, and a conviction for corruption would end everything except his pension.

He was in contempt by not surrendering by Sunday, which will blow his rescission argument out the water.

Last night was as per the courts instruction to the police, not Zuma. He did not surrender himself last night, too late for that, he was arrested.

Do they even do mugshots when entering SA prisons @Convict ?
They do it, but it is for record keeping, and it saved in your prison file, the mugshots you see in the movies, are normally taken by the police when you get arrested for anything, and they keep that on their files, meaning each police station, will have their own set of mugshots. and it does not link to some central database of mugshots.

Yeah he handed himself over at Estcourt prison.. but the ConCourt has mandated its either Westville or JHB so he will need to be transferred.
