Because 1.366 billion Indians & Indian government is responsible for Guptas ?
He will do half the sentence meaning 7.5 months before qualifying for parole., but since he is doing a very small sentence and a very minor offense, in terms of the law, he might qualify for correctional supervision, which means 1/6 of the time inside the rest on correctional supervision / parole.

Once he goes out on parole, he will be monitored for the remainder of the sentence, cannot leave the district where he lives unless asking permission, cannot leave the country unless the provision commissioner gives approval stuff like that.

So you have a limited time to arrange his prison wife......:D

So while everyone debating the jail sentence.. I’m more curious what happens post this.. ie will the commission force him to come visit them and tell them wft happen? And answer to the many questions wrt state capture?

Don’t get me wrong jail sentence is all good but, but this is for contempt. The commission must still wrap up and maybe now Zuma will be more willing to talk at the commission? I mean going to jail for contempt does not relieve him of participation let alone other charges for corruption and fraud.

He's in jail for refusing to appear not sure why he would want to appear after being punished. They can't punish him again so he's not going back to the commission.

Parole option after a quarter of his sentence, not half.

Didn't someone earlier post about being able to be punished each time for each contempt case, like drunk driving cases.

Surely, it is new contempt, new sentence? Or once you commit murder and get 10 years, you can commit as many murders as one can with no additional penalty?

Unless there's a Live stream of him in jail 24/7 don't ever believe the guy is in jail, I think him handing himself over was just for everybody to cool down.

Bet you that either the Pietermaritzburg rules he must be released before the Con Court rules or the Con Court will rule in his favour for early release.

That was surely just for that instance. If they subpoena him to appear again then we go through the process again...

Yep, every time he defies a court order he will be elligible for a new contempt charge.
