The state pays pension to military veterans, not just MKMVA but all military veterans as defined according to the military veterans act.

The leadership are a structure of the ANC so they will earn a salary from there, Carl was already employed by the ANC in the SG office so he wasn't getting double the salary.

You can get visit the first weekend you are inside. Do not how they will do it with Covid though.

When you go in they classify you, you normally start as a B group prisoner. Meaning visit through a window, almost like you see in the movies. Normally 6 months later, you get reviewed and if you broke no rules you become A group. Contact visits, 5 visits per month, and other benefits.

Now since he is doing such a small sentence they might start as an A group. I know other prison do not have contact visits though due to Covid, so it is windowed visits for all
