Give him the 55 pound fine and be done with it. We don't want a crisis and bloodshed.
Nobody does, but should we let suspects get away with corruption and dirty dealings if they threaten violence?

If Zuma gets away with a slap on this wrist it basically enables every corrupt politician to try do something similar and then make threats so as not to get prosecuted.

Go read Winnie Mandela's contribution in the struggle during the dark days when the ANC was banned.

Watch this:

And most importantly watch this:

Telling everyone to read certain books and watch certain movies is a cop-out, when all you have to do is quote the sources you allude to have these defvinitve answers to.

No it's not a cop out, it's giving you a more extensive source of the information you seek, unless your request is not sincere.

Anyways, Excalibur has felt the need to derail this thread. You should go and start another thread to further your agenda there. This thread is a about one Jacob Zuma who has felt the need to defy a legal commission. Perhaps time to get the threat back on track.

Though the state capture thread is more appropriate to post this, this is why the Zondo Commission must move in urgency to gut the snake.

The Zondo Commission needs to act decisively now with Zuma. There are other bodies who could have investigated State Capture, and most probably achieved much desired results by now.

This is adding up,

Tito Mboweni’s unseemly klap at Judge Zondo

The R800-million cost of the Zondo Commission has already paid for itself. For one thing, the management consultancy McKinsey has settled a R600-million debt after negotiation with the commission.

First published in the Daily Maverick 168 weekly newspaper.

Answering a question from journalist Carol Paton after delivering his deft Budget this week, Finance Minister Tito Mboweni smacked the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.

He said it had cost more than any judicial inquiry in post-apartheid South Africa, was taking too long and had better get the job done. Wow! His riposte was sharp, fast and quickly headlined to add to growing political pressure on Zondo and his team.

What have been achieved up to now? What will the President do with the recommendations?

Zuma's little game is costing the tax payer more, and this cost shouldn't be entertained.

Pay walled article, but I mean,

R38,000 per day? That’s the cost of the Zondo inquiry’s lawyers

The commission’s major cost drivers are its legal fees and investigators’ costs, parliamentary committee hears

Editor’s note: This story was originally published in Sunday Times Daily earlier in 2020, and is being republished as part of the editors’ choice edition.

The top legal minds leading evidence in the Zondo commission of inquiry cost the commission up to R38,000 per day for the highest paid senior counsel...

The result should be more than reality TV. Citizens deserve more.

I like Zondo, but this commission must cull state corruption as best as possible, and he cannot do so without the current president realising this. You know, make it so.

Yes there's consultation like in any sane government but the buck stops with Cyril, I promise you.

Consultation is one thing, when it ends up with the endless consensus crap we have to deal with its another story all together.

It takes forever to actually make any real decisions because of it, and it leads to a horribly ineffective government at the end of the day, which also is totally unable to display any level of policy certainty at any point.

Hell even during Cyrils speech last night it was on display. "The move to level one should enable companies to implement investment programs put on hold due to level 3", very next sentence is about a possible third wave. I can guarantee you that most companies will leave those programs on hold still.

There was a lot of public funds theft and mineral looting in SA before the ANC even took charge of the country.
all governments steal and loot, the trick is to leave enough of it alone to have a properly functioning country

so to guage that, please compare these organisations' performance pre and post ANC rule:
- SAA
- ESKOM
- Post Office
- SABC
- Spoornet / PRASA

You as citizen won't get remote chance to game the system like JZ has.
Well, things can get interesting.
If zume defies a court order, then he faces charges of contempt of court, a warrant of arrest being issued and being sentenced as prescribed.

Should the warrant of arrest not be executed or him being sentenced as prescribed, a legal precedent is set.

Every half baked attorney will turn to this precedent in defending their clients who have behaved in a similar manner - which in turn will cause chaos in the legal system.
And zuma knows this - that it can cause chaos through the country is meaningless to him - for him, everything is about self enrichment.
We are dealing with an individual whose moral bar is so low that an unmanned submarine has to be sent to the depths of the marina trench to retrieve it.
This is a man whom despite having a multitude of wives, is somehow compelled to go fukk the daughter of a friend.
There is no surprise as to how his sons all turned out - dishonesty and corruption are the order of the day in that family.
What is truly astonishing is how the zulu rally around and support him, simply because he is their big man

Chisanyama, rings a bell? It has always been about red meat, what did Zuma serve to his visitors in Nkandla? red meat, what is the traditional braai, red meat.

We do love chicken but not as we much as red meat. I would never attend a chicken braai even if you bribed me with KFC.
It would be nice to meet you and the others (what do they call us..."MyCadre"?) and have a light-hearted chat at a Chisanyama (not at KFC as Telkom what what and others would like to think).

I differ on two small points.
- the precedent has already been set as we saw,
- no sub, manned or not, can go that deep/low.

Even your beloved Apartheid regimes had bosberaads didn't they? But at the end of the day consensus was reached and everybody came out fully behind P.W. Botha as the head of state.
